I finally got the time this weekend to get the boat ready to go for the summer. I just put a new battery in it and made sure it was charged fully. When I place the key in the ignition in the on position I get a Reverse Module Error and a fault code of U0410. I see the gates are in neutral, but the display shows forward and does not change with a change in position of the shifter from neutral, forward, or reverse. Lanyard is on the kill switch and the post is seated as far as it will go. When I pull the cord and replace it I can hear the relays(?) clicking in the engine compartment. Any ideas before I load this thing up and haul it to the shop and break out another thousand? Thanks for the help y’all.

re-seat safety lanyard a couple times to see if that helps

Same thing happened to me 6 weeks ago, beginning of summer. Exact error and shows in F although shifter in neutral. Changed out relays, battery fully charged, lanyard reset multiple times. It’s in the shop now to be looked at (they were behind 6 weeks). Will let you know when I hear from them this fall :)
2019 255 open id

* my gut tells me the up/down motor is bad or the display module is not reading correctly

Just got a call from dealer. IBR module is bad. Can’t do anything till next week. Summer boating- non existent

Just got ready to put the boat in for the season and I have brand new batteries and got the reverse module error!

Have you done anything about it yet? Please let me know if not. Just went through the same thing with my 255 Open ID. Troubleshooting, changed out IBR motor myself. Can share some insight before paying $800-$1000 for a new module.

It was a connection on the back end of the the wiring from the gear shifter. Saved myself a lot of money.

Hi Jetboy,

I saw that you answered someone about their EReverse module failure and I wanted to ask for your assistance if you don't mind. My boat is a 2016 Scarab HOI Wake with 2-250HP engines. Time on the engines: 65 hours. I've had the boat since new. I went to start it before taking it to the lake and I got the dreaded eREverse Module Error. (No codes show up on the display, just this message as well as the other normal display information) The battery was low so that evidently could be a reason. So I bought a new battery, charged it to full and tried again. Same message. If did not go away from the first time. I checked the fuses, all good and I replaced the two relays with generic ones and had same issue. I have since purchased the OEM Omron relays G8V-RH-1C7T-R-DC12 and should get them in the next couple days and will replace with them and try again. One other thing I tried was disconnecting the battery for 24 hours in the hope it would reset things. That did not work. Are there any other troubleshooting methods I can try? Also, once this issue is flagged by the computer is there a re-set I can perform or would I need the dongle and software to preform a reset? Thanks, Walt

I'm embarrassed to say this but when I added a new battery I forgot to connect one of the wires to the positive terminal. I then had no shifting so after a long search I found what I did and all was good. Just make sure you connected all the positive wires. It happens.

Would love some insight. We are dealing with this issue With our 2017 Scarab 195. It had happened years ago when we first got the boat in 2020 and turned out to be relays/battery. But this time, it stays in reverse no matter what position the gear shifter is in. Changed battery and relays. Same code. Wondering if it might be this IBR motor. Was it terrible to change out yourself and did this fix your issue?

Sorry to hear! Yours does sound possibly like a stuck /blown motor. Changing the IBR motor (if you have any mechanical ability) is not bad at all. After making sure you have the tools and materials needed, plan for 1.5- 2 hours your first time.

For me, after replacing it I found that the motor was not my actual issue. It was related to the relays on the starboard engine fuse box. I had only replaced the ones on the port side. Either way I was glad to have replaced the motor so that I had the confidence that it won't go bad anytime soon. Also be aware that someone here reported the IBR controller board that had a component that burned out on it. That can be checked also by pulling the IBR assembly out and checking the board.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just took the boat to the dealer for their trouble shooting skills and BUDs. New battery, no blown fuses and new relays, 2 on each engine, did not solve the problem. They said it would take about 2 weeks to get to it so I'll let everyone know what they discover.

Were you able to override the error at all? Could be your actual IBR motor.

This is the message I get. I click on the 'OK' and a smaller message saying the same thing resides at the top of the display. I'm not sure how to override it, if that is even possible in this case. The boat is a 2016 I have had since new and has 65 hours on it with no previous issues. Last week is the first time I was taking it to the lake this year and this message popped up. Is it possible the eReverse module 'broke' sitting over the winter? Maybe, I'm not sure why it would but don't know much about it.

Can you take a picture of where that is, want to see if that is my problem

I am having this problem with my Chap Vortex 203. I replaced two relays but it sounds like there may be more. Where were these other starboard relays? Were they behind the instrument panel?

On our Scarab there is a fuse box on the side near the battery compartments. One for each engine. Do you have a photo of your engine bay? Its likely different for Chaps

I only have one engine so maybe there is not more fuse boxes. But will take a picture and post when I am back to my boat. Thanks
