So I have a scuff on my boat from a corner bumper on my dock. What should I use to remove it? I have some on the vinyl graphic and some on the paint. Appears to be residue from the bumper itself.
Thanks in advance

Magic eraser but don’t press down too hard. If that doesn’t work get some toothpaste and apply it like wax and then wipe off. Sounds like typical dock rash.

Whitening toothpaste on a wet dish sponge, works like a charm, cleans, polishes and whitens! ;)

The magic eraser was recommended by a friend. Will it leave a white residue? It’s on the navy blue part of the gelcoat. Same question for toothpaste? Both safe on vinyl graphics?

Toothpaste is safe for all surfaces and no issues with vinyl graphics, works great to remove nail polish from the transom walk thru from the ladies* little toes too! Use it like brushing your teeth, apply, polish and rinse. *(or guys... whatever floats your boat)

Never used the magic eraser, so not sure of it's compound makeup.

I use a magic eraser to remove those as well as scuffs from the anchor chain on the white gel coat areas. Is it 100% safe to use it? No idea. But it takes them off. I haven't seen any scratches/swirls from it.

A magic eraser is very mildly abrasive. Note that if using on vinyl (like seats). Should be fine on gelcoat. If it creates any haze at all, that is easily remedied with a little polishing compound, but probably would not even be needed.

For perspective, when doing a more major fiberglass repair (like a hole), you will repair the fiber, apply new gelcoat, then smooth it out with 600, then 1000, then 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper (wet), then polishing compound to make it glow. So there is very little a magic eraser could screw up that you could not take out with the same regimen.
