Just got the news from a boat test email.

I could be wrong but thought searay just bought cobalt.

Was surprised to read that less than 2,500 searay boats were sold in the u.s. This year.

So what's that a 3x multiplier at 380k sales in 2017. Might be more lucrative to part it out.

Think it was Malibu that bought Cobalt.

I think it will be a good thing for Sea Ray. The brand has been flat for a while. Their designs are boring. If I were in the market for a 50' cruiser it would Azimut all the way and the sport boats are just glorified Bayliners.

Selling off (or trying to) their best boat brand? Go figure! (Bet the execs are looking for a cash infusion)
Maybe that line of jet boats they cancelled would have made them more profitable...

I liked the old sea ray I had, and I really did like some of their newer products - they were sorely overpriced though.

That $380,000 sales figure has to be incorrect. Assuming avg of $50,000 ea, that is less than 8 boats.

Maybe net sales. Even their cheapest boat has a starting price of $34K (which is crazy for a basic 19' outboard).

My biggest gripe with Sea ray is that you dont have choices of power options with inboards is limited to Mercruiser. Cant get volvo penta. Unless something changed

Still Mercruiser only, The parent company for both Mercury Marine and Sea Ray is Brunswick. I bet powerplant options open up after it changes hands.
