Sexy Driveway Addition

That is a big assed TT:)

Very nice. Wish I could talk the wife into one.

Wow! I think you need a bigger boat now. 40' is a lot of on-the-go livin'. That is super nice. Now we need a pic of the tow rig!

Hey, what do you tow that thing with?

I'm always wondering how big my Tahoe or 1/2 ton Ram can go. And, when you start getting into heavier duty trucks, how do you decide between TT or 5th wheel rigs. This last season I've used the grandparents 40' motor home and we've enjoyed it. But the floor plan is much more suited to a couple of retired folks over a fairly young family of 5. :)

Bigger boat - I like that idea, but that will have to wait a little bit now, :).

2016 F150 with EcoBoost (rated to tow 12,200 lbs.) You definitely know the RV is back there, but the truck handles it.

Yup. I tow a 28' Whitehawk (7000 lb trailer gross) with my Eco 150. If you haven't yet, check out a dual catch can for it. You'll be running a lot of boost and it is amazing how much crud runs back through the intake (causes problems). The new 17 eco has both direct fuel injection and fuel spray on the intake valves so they don't accumulate carbon like the original 3.5. It is a lot of trailer so be safe. I had to upgrade brakes after a trip to the mountains. Also get that brake controller dialed in. They don't adjust the trailer brakes at the factory and mine were way out (doing nothing at 10). After adjusting I can finally lock the tires from 20 mph at a controller setting of 8 (factory). Sorry if you know all of this. Just trying to share my lessons learned from a recent expansion of our towable fun portfolio.

Congrats, nice travel trailer! I thought our 35 Ft one was big, we tow ours with one of our two 2500 HD Duramax Diesels, 3/4 Ton makes a huge difference towing along with the diesel.

All suggestions are welcome. I am asking a lot of the truck for this trailer. I'm not super excited to be so close to the max tow capacity of the truck (RV weighs 10900), but it wont get moved round too much or if it does we'll look to move up a class of truck. I did get a great weight distribution hitch and the truck ride pretty close to flat.

Thanks for the recommend for the dual catch can; I'll look into that! Also I did adjust the break controller to 6 for starters.

Did you hear 2018 F150 has a diesel engine, what do you think of that; I'm curiously interested.

Drive safe! Consider staying home if the wind are over 20. You'll be way over the rating with gas, water, firewood, etc. That's a big ass trailer to pull on any ball, especially a f150. I'd only consider a fifth for over 30' unless it was going to live at the river/lake and never move. There is no way you could back that in at most of the places I go. You probably couldn't even get close to the camp site due to windy roads. It be perfect for the desert.

Sweet set up! That boat looks tiny next to the RV. I'd be curious to see trailer weight and total combined weight over a scale. I agree with @Jgorm loaded the RV may be over your max tow, how far and where do you tow?

I hear the concerns, but I should have clarified I'm towing to lake and leaving it there 95% of the time. Gonna buy land and use it as a lake house up at Gaston or Kerr lake. Thats why I didnt go crazy with tow rig.

Now to find land.....

I have been reading a little on the new ford f150 with a power stroke diesel. All they have said so far is that it will be a 3.0 psd. not much other info out yet. Looks like they are trying to directly compete with the eco diesel. It will be interesting to see what the details are..

With the weight of a diesel motor I don't believe they will have the high numbers like their gas brothers. I just hope they have good fuel ratings. I hope they do better than the Titan with the Cummins.

From what I've heard and read the new Ford 1\2 ton diesel is coming from Europe. It's the same motor that's currently used in the Range Rover and has been in service for around 10 years. So I'd say it's a proven power plant. It'll probably have the 10 speed tranny behind it so it should get good mileage.

Congrats!! Looks great!!

We bought a 37 foot last Fall and we are loving it! I am currently looking for a bigger truck to pull this beast. The truck has enough power, it is the suspension that is lacking. Semis push me all over the place on the highway. I do have a WDH with sway control.

That is a beauty! I have great concerns about you towing that with a half ton truck. Remember, it isn't just about power to get up to speed. More importantly it is about controlled stopping. IMO, you are way out of your weight class with that truck. It is not just about your safety but everyone else you encounter. It is a shame that sales people don't have the same concern. Sorry to sound negative. It is a beautiful camper and I wish you a lot of happy camping adventures!

As far as F150 new diesel, the TD6 is really the Lion 6 of Ford/Peugeot/Citroen (aka AJD-V6), been around for a long time, don't see how it could go wrong.

I listen to @Zarrella in all things towing. He does it for living.
