Hello everyone, new to this forum. Just bought a new 2019 Yamaha FSH 210. First run was great. Second run after installing Cobra Jet Steering was met with a very tight shifter for both engines. Has anyone else had this problem?

Make sure you have all the stainless spacers in place between the bolts and holes in the reverse bucket. You should have a little wiggle. You should be able to lift the reverse bucket by hand at the rear of the boat. You could have a spacer out of alignment, or those bolts cranked down to tight.

I bet you did not return the standoffs in the reverse bucket when you installed the bolts perhaps you can email me with pictures and I can locate the issue for you 98955

Thanks to both. Jeff, I will email you tomorrow after the rain stops and I can take pics. I looked it over before taking back to the lot. I’m thinking you both have a point

no problem it will be a minor install glitch most common is the standoffs left off , the fin brackets upside-down That is the reason for the this side up stickers on them so I doubt that is the issue or the washers and spacers in the wrong order. 98958

As I briefly looked it’s setup like the picture. However, should the last spacer be on the backside of the bucket?

the only thing not on the bolt in the second picture is the small collar that belongs inside the reverse bucket that I pointed out in the first picture the bucket pivots on the collar and if it is not in the bolt hole on both sides the reverse will drag or lock up so in this picture you see the parts against the reverse but you can not see the spacer or collar that is inside the reverse 98961

98962 this shows the collar in a reverse bucket

Here is the current setup. I thought I followed the directions

The original spaced fits through the hole on the bucket the larger that came with the CobraJetSteering doesn’t. Should I reuse the smaller?

There you go the big one is to space out the fins away from the reverse so they clear. The original one is for the bucket to rotate on, glad you now have them in the correct position .

Now that you have them sorted you’ll love them!

Leaving a note here to future folks searching for a similar problem. Steering and reverse should not be affected by bolts too tight. There are bushings enabling the movement. If you loosen a bolt and it feels better something is wrong. Likely a binding/stand off is missing or bound up.

When I email the tracking number and tips on installation I have a statement at the bottom of the page providing the customer with my home phone number and email address telling them if they have a question call me day or night I can usually track down an issue , sometimes I need pictures.
I am certain there are people on this board who have contacted me and had their questions answered and resolved . I stopped cooking Easter dinner to help someone out , If I am there I will answer the phone I do not carry a cell phone so if I am out and I see someone called when I return I will call them back even if they did not leave a message. When you can ask the inventor and patent holder why ask anyone else first ?

Maybe you were cooking dinner? Just kidding! I am a witness to your great service and attention to detail in your products. I'd like to think you have sold an extra EZ Locks or two sooner that otherwise because I shouted along with many here that they are the fix for blowouts. Big Fan here. Thanks again for your products and dedication!!!!
