...to repair. They use custom parts that cannot be found anywhere other than from Shorelandr. This is my second time replacing leaf springs on one of their trailers (last time was on a LX2000)...this time they lasted 2yrs (I should have been more regular with the white lithium). Try finding 23" leaf springs anywhere. Also, they use metal bushings???, so even if you can get the rusted nut off, you have to cut the bolt (dumb).

This is what I'm working with...note how bass-ackward they put the u-bolts on. They should straddle the axle and be turn bolt side up, but instead they add a piece on top of the spring to keep the u-bolts from shifting.IMG_5016.jpeg

That looks like a lot of work. I would be tempted to flip the trailer over, get my grinder and go at it!

5 minute job with cutting torch, take the spring to a local truck spring / alignment shop . Most of them can make it in an hour or two, I'd bet a lot cheaper too...

I needed to whine a bit last night after my cutting wheel broke, man I wish I had a torch. @JC6275 I don't think those springs would work, the mounting holes are 21.5" on center and the stock springs are reverse curl.

I found out why the u-bolts are setup they way they are, and I had to reuse the top spring piece. Oh well, one side down...I'm heading for the water.

And why is that?

When you get back, of course. One should have priorities... :)

I didn't realize that first pic was so horrible. It's hard to see, but the u-bolt mounting plate is sitting on top of the spring, the way it's needed for the u-bolts to wrap around the axle. It's about an inch above the hub, so it'd hit it on the first bounce.

Ugh!! I picked the wrong weekend to do things around the house. It only rains when I plan to hit the water!

Looks beautiful!

Yea, it's usually the same for me, but I somehow time it right this time...last weekend we were holed up waiting on the spring (the one side was floating on two of the five leafs), but it was rainy. Here's a pan of our stop at passage key, not to rub it in :) image.jpg

I think CRC-656 and Corrosion-X are pretty comparable. My routine is to use Boeshield T-9 on everything in the engine compartment, and white lithium grease on the pump and trailer. I'm sure everyone has their preference.
