My Daughter was driving her fiancée's Duramax with his Dad, they were making a left turn in the intersection and the guy in the Lexus ran a red light and T-Boned them, luckily she saw him coming and hit the gas so it did not hit them square in the cab, so he hit the back of the truck. Thank God our Daughter and Shawn are ok. The guy in the Lexus is not doing as good and his Wife had to go to the Hospital. They were test driving the Lexus, they were cited for running a red light and not wearing seat belts. I am thankful for big trucks, my Wife and I, and our kids all drive trucks, your chance of surviving an accident is much better.

That was quite an impact!

Glad your family is ok.

Thankfully she is OK.
Better chance to survive in a big vehicle.
We drive Ram 2500 , Hummer H2 and H2sut.

They were lucky they were in a big truck, if they were in a car, things would have been way worse. Both of their necks are sore from the whiplash, our Daughter decided to go to the Emergency Room later today as she felt nauseous, headache, and neck ache - they ran tests including an MRI, she does have a mild concussion and strained neck muscles, they released her and just want her woken up every two hours during the night to make sure she is doing ok. Very grateful she will be fine.

Lesson for everyone who reads this, do not take anything or anyone for granted, life is short and the possibility of losing a loved one or friend is very real everyday.

Good advice.

Dan,
I hope she is doing well. People need to slow down and actually pay attention to driving!

Wow....Glad they are ok....Prayers for all involved.

I'd be torqued if I had been through that and I wasn't even allowed to have a decent nights sleep.

Tomorrow isn't promised...hug your family tight folks.

Way too many distracted people operating motor vehicles. Watch out for any side effects from whiplash. Glad they were in a big vehicle. Hope all is well.

Hope your daughter is feeling a bit better today.

Heavy and higher off the ground wins the battle. A tow ball helps too. Once had someone rear end me at a stop sign but their bumper slid under my tow ball my tow ball took out their grill and radiator. Had to put it in 4wd to get off of them as my rear tires were nearly off the ground. Only damage to my truck was paint scratches on the underside of the hitch receiver/bumper and my spare tire needed replaced. The car that hit me probally needed a whole new front clip and radiator.

Only dowside to a truck besides mpg is parking a crew cab with a regular or long bed can be a pain at some parking lots with rows tight together.

Once you go full size truck you won't go back.

They are still feeling the effects of the accident, still sore and stiff. Now they are dealing with the insurance nightmare of getting everything fixed and hopefully reimbursement for medical related expenses. There are a lot of stupid drivers out there.

They have both been checked out by Doctors and now are seeing a Chiropractor a couple times a week, I am glad they were in a big truck or else this would have been way worse.

I agree, my Wife was rear ended about 12 years ago, she was in her Chevy Avalanche, we had the ball mount in the hitch and this guy in a Ford Ranger that hit lost the battle, his truck was totaled, our sustained some damage to the frame damage. That's another reason we have big trucks, cannot put a price tag on a loved one's life!!!

Dan, glad they are safe and able to come home to you. Any accident is serious but as stated they were in a good vehicle for it. Hoping for a quick recovery and no long term issues.

Thanks Man!!

That was a pretty good hit @AZDANSX230HO. Looks like a glancing blow. Glad your daughter was a real good driver who realizes the gas pedel can get you out of a bad situation as well as the break. Had she hit the break it could have been a very different story. That's certainly something to give extra thanks for this Thanksgiving.

Absolutely, I think all my kids inherited my cat like reflexes when it comes to driving, I have never been in an accident myself, but have avoided dozens - the worst was a semi truck driver who fell asleep driving coming at me head on, I was towing a boat, trying to keep one side of the vehicle on pavement and the other side in the desert sand was no fun, if he would have come any closer I would have had to drive into the desert to avoid which could have caused us to roll.
