Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster. It looks like we'll be in the market for a 242X come this winter (hoping to get a deal on a leftover 2019 if that's even a thing, never bought a new boat before). I'm planning to rent a slip and hydro-hoist for it but the marina I'm planning to use has several different slip size options. Which would you recommend?

10x25
10x26
11x28

and larger ones but can't imagine I'd need anything larger.

I guess my main question is whether 10' is wide enough or if I should go w/ the 11' width.

Thanks!

I'm in a 12x30. Here's a picture for reference. I like the extra space

Thanks for the response and pictures! They do have a 12x30 option but the price goes up quickly with size...

I think you'll be fine with a 10 or 11 ft wide slip. But I'd get as much l length as you can without breaking bank. In my eyes, boat feels more protected.

Seems like it would depend on the size of the hydro lift. If it’s not wider than the boat, 10ft is just fine. Check the lift length as well. The boat itself fits better in 26ft compared to 25.

I'm in a 10 x 24 for my AR 240. 10 wide is great. Snug feel with little /no effort involved to center on lift bunks before raising. Can be a bit of challenge on windy days to back it in , but fenders on front of slip give me more confidence and sometimes just "muscle" it in by the tower. I would love to have 1-2' more on length but not available at my marina without going to 12' wide. As you stated , price goes WAY UP ! Mooring cover provides protection on the nose for slight overhang.

10 is fine for our boats but I would go longer - with 26 at least. If you plan a lift it helps to position it and the boat will not stick out.

20190314_171710.jpgI have a 2016 242 limited SE in a 10×28 foot slip. 10 foot wide is perfect to me... plenty of room to get the boat in, yet narrow enough that boarding doesn't require stepping over a large gap.... easier and safer for kids. It also makes it really easy to clean. I would suggest at least 26 foot long. This keeps the boat more protected from the weather.20190322_181313.jpg

At 10’ wide you shouldn’t need the keel expanders for wider docks that will save you a few bucks.

any thoughts on minimum width for boat lift for 242x.... looking at used lifts and 108" seems to be all that's available.
