The snap on cover from Yamaha is pretty good so far. My install may not be perfect but i think if anything i pull it all too tight. :winkingthumbsup"

In any case, i am looking to attach loops or bungies to the back 7 snaps so that there aren't snaps on the back edge of the boat where we sit when we want wet feet or where the kids (cough and me) jump off the deck.

Looking for solutions you guys have for attaching the snaps to the bungie or rope. I have extra screw in snaps i believe and also extra windshield snaps.

Was thinking something could go around the ladder and both tie down loops.

Ideas?20160518_171722.jpg

@Speedling. I have tie down loops that I do use to hook under my ladder and also run two adjustable straps to the rear tie down loops. It keeps my cover plenty tight to keep the rain from pooling.

Make 7 nylon extension straps, have male snaps on the top to attach to the cover, and have female versions on the other end. Have them long enough to wrap under the swim deck and drill in snaps to receive them underneath. Out of sight and wont be in the way. I considered the same when I had the same boat.

Those would constitute through hull holes so seal them good.

5200 on the threads to be safe, but that area in not under water most of the time, unless you have a ton of weight on the swim deck.

Got pictures?
Another excuse to visit the boat...

Not sure how you feel about modifying the cover but I would probably remove a couple of the snaps and replace them with stainless grommets. Then you could hook bungies through without making any more holes in your boat.
Edit: Actually it would probably make more sense to leave all the snaps and just add the grommets.

You could replace the snaps with grommets and hook bungees from there to the ladder etc. Not sure if the bungee hook would rub on any of the gel coat though.

Home depot carries packets of Snaps (both male and female) that I used to create screens for my porch. I'd do as @zelone suggests, and just make some extension straps that snap onto the current snaps....and then a loop that could be wrapped around the ladder and snaps back on itself.

Not bad ideas but i am worried about how i am putting a snap onto some sort of cord or extension as it would be scratching up the boat no?
And where would i find these extensions or bungies or rope that you all recommend?

I would look at getting some replacement bimini straps and adding snaps onto that....basically flat strap material.
Not a bad idea. I believe i have a bunch of that type of thing actually. Problem is snap part is still going to be right up against the gelcoat. Needs some sort of buffer or rubber or something.

@Speedling here is what mine look like, FWIW:

Speedling, double the material over on itself and only rivet the snap on the upper layer. The bottom layer will always be between the bottom of the snap and the gelcoat. May need some stitches to keep it consistent.

Simple.
Love it!
I will work on that asap.
