What cover are most here using; snaps vs. full mooring? This will be on a 2026 255XD. It will
be on a lift all Summer when not in use. Lots of spiders and birds.

I used a full mooring cover on my prior Moomba. The Yamaha comes with the snap covers. I’m worried that spiders will get in easier, water, and just more boat exposed constantly to the elements, birds, etc.

Debating whether to just use the snaps when up for the weekend and buy a full mooring for when away. Any solid off brands that fit well and last? Hate to drop another 2k on a full Yamaha cover. Thanks!

We haul our boat everywhere. So my opinion may be different than others.

We use the snap cover for summer use and then have the mooring cover that we put on for the winter.

I feel like the snap cover is easiest, but I also put it on and off more so I am well versed. The snap cover is much, much lighter.

You have a point that the mooring cover has much more coverage. On lift, depending on the lift, I feel like I could put on the snap cover twice as fast as the mooring cover.

Same boat on a covered lift. We ordered it with both not knowing which we would prefer. We’ve settled on using the full cover at the slip minus the poles for extra bug and swim deck sun protection. Bow and cockpit covers for if we park overnight on a sandbar.

Thanks! Planning on probably getting both too. You guys sleep on the 255XD?

Both have Pros and Cons.

Snap Cover - Much easier to put on while on the lift but it leaves more of the boat unprotected and over time I had some gelcoat fade due to constant sunlight beating down on uncovered portions of the boat.

Mooring cover- Much better protection but not as easy to put on while on a boat lift.

I think long term sun damage is more of a long term threat than anything else and the mooring cover provides much more protection in this regard. I totally overlooked this when buying my boat with the snap covers but have since purchased a mooring cover

I took delivery of the boat last week. I got the snap cover for ease of use on the lift, as well as the option to leave the bow cover on in "less than ideal" weather. Planning to store it with a full cover - but will likely get one that fits even over the folded tower.

There’s a third option for covered lift. Admittedly it’s pricey but it’s 5 minutes on/off and offers great protection. Spiders are a big problem on our dock but not with this cover

No we have a campsite on the Missouri River but the boat spends a lot of nights tied up to the sandbar as the slip is a few miles down the road
