My 242 partly sank recently, thread here for more details...

Insurance company has offered for me to buy it back for salvage. I don't think I have the time to fix it up, but thought I would post here to see if anyone might be interested in it. If so, make an offer....

summary:
light gelcoat scratches across entire bottom part of hull
heavier scratches towards stern. One area where fiberglass is exposed, doesn't seem to be damaged though
Both engines flooded, water 6" over batteries

If you're interested I can send pictures of anything specific you'd like to see.

I may also part it out if there's no interest, so if you're looking for any specific parts off this boat let me know as well.

What is number to purchase the whole boat in its current condition? I wouldn't have any idea what something like that would be worth.

They priced it at 5k. 10-12% of original value or something like that was what she explained to me. A very tempting number.

With Trailer?

At $5,000 that is very tempting

That is what I am thinking as a good project.

Have you seen the engines in the past few days? Has it rusted?

At $5k for a 24ft boat. I'm interested as well.

24ft boat that needs 2 new engines likely. and maybe electrical
I'm reading through your thread now to gleam as much info as I can. Gimme a sec to asses the situation. Still $5k doesn't seem absurd.

*edit*

OK read through the thread. If I could put eyes on it ahead of time, I still don't think it's that bad. That $49k number from the dealership is scary as hell, but they have new throttle bodies, new cylinder heads, new wiring harnesses in there. If an enterprising person had time and location, all of that is salvagable IMO. Might involve yanking the motors and rebuilding them on a stand, but you don't have to replace them wholesale.

Not sure my wife will let me take the time on a project like this up front. Have some talking to do with her, as well as some other variables to work through (like if I can insure a salvage title boat when I'm done), etc.

Don't hold anything up, but I'm still considering it.

Title is clean. My adjuster said they only report auto losses?

I put it on Facebook I have offers up to 10k as of now with the trailer.

also surprisingly there looks to be very little rust in the engine bay so far.

I’ve seen boats for sale that looks worse than that lol

Checked out copart to see if they had any compatible accident damage boats Plenty of boats for the newer models so crazy check out the hail damage boat that would have good motors and another that looks like the driver side swiped someone on the road

@Cambo Yeah, I always am looking on Copart and there are definitely ones that have good engines and other things on them. There is a 2020 up there today.

Sold in 6 hours for 10k. Everything fully disclosed to seller. What a crazy market
That is more than a bit nuts. Congrats on the sale!

@FLBulldogger I would say, aside from the experience, you came out on ok this ordeal. Congrats on the quick sale.

Please tell me you're asking the new owner to join here so we can watch the rebuild/restoration.

So fascinating. I truly hope we get to follow along on the project
