I always wonder about those kinds of scenarios.
If my boat ever catches fire on the water, I'm not having anyone looking for an extinguisher - we get the f@ck out, quick.

That's also what I've been told, by people who've been doing this way longer than I.

Wow i thought i had a bad day in the Bahamas. Lol
 
The fire load and materials make those fires burn so hot and fast. They are nearly impossible to have under control even while at a marina. Even with their suppression systems they usually only cover mechanical rooms etc.
