Pretty sure Willow, my wife, has cabin fever. When I was plowing this morning during the storm, she kept sending pictures of me/us having great times at the beach on the boat. It made me smile, knowing that my season is still a few months away. If any of y'all have sniffles of cabin fever, like her, ahem me too, post up pics. to help cure the ailment. I know a Florida beach would do the job, but for now, pics. will have to do. I know some of you are in the same boat. ;)

And some of the pics. she sent.

Man, that Belgian Sheppard puppy is so fantastic! What an awesome dog.
(You said Tervuren, right?)

Yes, she is pretty awesome. Learns fast and loves her people. High energy herding dog. Always at your side or circling you. She has not yet destroyed anything illegal, not hers, but toys do not last long. She loves to sleep on the back of Willows chair and has grown some since that pic.
20180108_114746.jpg 20180102_132043.jpgWe have a video camera watching that door, we watch her when away, and she will lay there until both of us are home. Might be getting another this summer so she has a friend to play with. The real "zipper", my Border Collie, died a few months ago at 14 years old, hermangiosarcoma. We have always been a two dog family.

As I get myself ready to spend the next 48 hours mostly in this truckIMG_0238.JPG my daughter told me how much she misses summer, "cause I don't disappear for three days at a time when it's not snowing". I had reminded her that I don't mind working a ton in the winter so we can spend endless hours on the water in the summer. She agreed that was an ok trade off. Even though we've been barely seeing temps above zero the last month or so around here, we've managed to get outside and get a little snowboarding in to pass the time until the ice melts.IMG_2804.JPG

@RiverRat I commend you, You municiple/state plow truck drivers put a lot of hours in this time of year. Keeping the roads clear is a huge job, especially after large snowfalls. Up until a few days ago, the January thaw, it's been too damn cold for the salt to work. We love to ski, but it's been so cold at times that resort chairlifts have shut down due to very low wind chill temps. Jay Peak and Whiteface mtn. to name a few. I have been spending my time in the woods on snowshoes, installing the equipment so I can add another 1000 maple taps to bring my total to near 6000 taps. But on some days the wind blew me right back into the house. The future forecast looks relatively warmer so it won't be as bad when I need to take off the gloves, dexterity required at times. Anyway, I don't know if it's a sign of an early spring but I saw snow fleas Thursday in the woods, thought that was kinda early. Well stay warm, it will be over soon, ya optimism, the shanties will be gone, the ice roads will melt into some of the nicest boating water anywhere.

I found the cure for Cabin Fever right here in front of me. This forum, Jetboaters.net. I mean I am out in the woods every day working on the sap lines so it's not that bad. But today was my 1 1/2 year anniversary here and through the accumulation of points I was rewarded Lieutenant status. I am proud to be a member of this site. I have learned a lot about my boat, mostly good here. I have spent thousands of $$ in mod money because of all you, but that is ok because most of it has enhanced the experience. Thank you to you all who have guided/steered me along the way. A special shout out to @Bruce , @Julian, @Murf'n'surf, @swatski, @txav8r, @Bill D and posthumously @AZDANSX230HO to name a few, I don't have all night to name everyone. Thanks again.

P.S. Wife says I am still a jetboat "junkie";)

This was an early fall day where the water felt like soaking in a hot tub on a cool breezy evening. I stayed in the water for three hours straight. And my wife thought I was crazy for swimming with my iPhone! This photo is cheap therapy with today’s snowy weather in South Carolina.

Oh, I forgot. Not to single anyone out but, @Scottintexas, thank you. Your command of all the hidden FAQ's is awesome. And the fact that you have the same boat, same color inspired me, knowing I was not the only one with an orange boat. Hard to miss us out on the water.;)

This has been one of the coldest winters I can remember here in Georgia. We are just now thawing out from the snow we got Wednesday. It will have gone from wind chills near 0 this past Wednesday, to sunny and 62 this Sunday. I wet slip our boat so think I will take it out for spin this Sunday.

LOVE this thread, we do the same kinda thing!

Also, Mid august, we had a great river trip, but it got SO hot. Stifling humidity. 104 i think-but we threw back a drink, smiled, and said, "we need to remember this day when its mid winter and we're complaining"

Plus, this is the time of year we start buying boat stuff LOL

@MattFX4 Burrrrrr, still pretty cold night time lows there. But I would take those temps over what we have. It has been colder in the South this year, even my parents down in Englewood, Fla. Call me up complaining about the occasional 30 something deg. morning temps. that quickly warm to the 50's or 60's. I sympathize with them and laugh, but it must be cold if my father says it's too cold to go fishing in his Maverick flats, skinny water boat. He loves to fly fish and try out all the flies he ties. He says he has some "reel" winners. (Pun Intended) A link to that boat, says he does 40+mph in 6" of water. http://maverickboats.com/boats/17-hpx-s/#overview

@zipper yeah, those night time lows are pretty cold. We haven't had many days above 40-45 this winter so far which is cold for Georgia. I have family in Orlando and it has been unseasonably cold down there too. Can't wait for spring!

Last year I was thinking about moving up north. This winter reminded me of just how bad of an idea that was.

Still trying to thaw the ice up here, feels futile just like @swatski 's meme, Screenshot_20180120-104932.png It's gonna be a while before it gets done. My dad sent up a few pics. from Fla., of his flats boat and his hobby of fly tying. They definitely warmed me up. The first one was labeled "work bench". It took me a few seconds to realize what it was.IMG_0090.jpg And then I realized it was his fly tying bench, took me a few because it did not have any Model A parts on it. Here is some of his work.IMG_0091.jpg And then he sent a pic. of one of his boats, the skinny water boat, and its got a Yamaha.
IMG_0101(1).jpg He does not carry a phone or camera while fishing, since he dropped the last one in the Mangroves, so I am waiting on pics./video from his "Fishing buddy" who explained their "misadventures" as hysterical. Hopefully he has some good gopro footage, I could use a laugh. His name is Capt. Al White, Boca on the Fly, https://www.bocaonthefly.com/
20180120_074129.jpg Hoping he comes up with some good stuff. And then dad said "this is my playground" and sent this pic of a chart, shallow waters.

Sunny and 70 here in Georgia so took the Boat out for a cruise and had lunch. Got me dreaming of summer. AB45FE56-3517-46E4-9254-6279BCDAAE18.jpeg

The second January thaw in two weeks, raining pretty hard after a 1/4" of ice last night.Screenshot_20180123-115320.pngThe second thaw and reading the signs late last fall,20171023_141351_001.jpgon this Wooley Bear, all the brown predicts a warmer winter. I did not believe it a couple of weeks ago at -17 deg. But I am predicting a early start to the boating season. Last season our first run was April 26th, would love to beat that date.20170427_134416.jpg But today stuck in the cabin making drops for the sap lines20180123_131542.jpg 20171202_105536.jpg The "drops" get "teed" in the 5/16" laterals at each tree and connect to the tap. Being 3' long, they allow you to move the tap around the tree from year to year and not tap the same area allowing the tap hole to heal over.20180123_113558.jpg20180123_113540.jpg synced the Samsung series 9 to my phone to show boating pics/videos while I was working.

Does this count as cabin fever? Waiting for spring to install them!

@nate kennedy ABSOLUTELY does! Especially if you live in MN. this time of year.

It was 60 degrees and sunny here yesterday (Southern Indiana), and had I known it was going to be that warm I would have taken the afternoon off and gone skiing!
My boat and lake are 3 minutes from my office, and I thought about just going out at lunch until I realized I'd have to take the battery out of my truck since both of the boat batteries are in my basement 30 minutes away from work...

I may start keeping a battery under my desk from now on so I'm ready for the next freak warm day (if there is one). I already have a towel and suit in a desk drawer...
