I'm that guy who has lurked for years (on this and the other site) but never posted. Well, tomorrow is the day I get to fulfill a decade-plus long dream of owning a Yamaha jet boat, and never munching another prop again! I'm the consummate deal hunter and a handy guy, so I'm not afraid to take on projects - but all of the deals over the years have been I/Os - until now! I get to finally empty a drawer in my tool chest of all the damn Mercruiser "special tools"! Hopefully I will get to impart some knowledge, and I thank the moderators and all members in advance for their knowledge and experience (and comedic wit). We will see tomorrow what I got myself into . . .

@jim_bo Welcome aboard!

As someone who is not very mechanically inclined and really doesn't understand the inner working of a motor I appreciate those of you who are skilled in this manner and I really appreciate the knowledge you all share with those of us lacking in that regard. I and many others will anxiously await the details of your experience and the process you go through making your new-to-you Yamaha your own.

Everything I have done with my own boat and everything I have learned can be directly traced back to this great forum!

Welcome aboard @jim_bo and congrats on your new jet boat. I'm just up the 5fwy from you in Rancho Santa Margarita. Feel free to hit me up for info if you need any help.

Yep, congrats and I second the DEMAND for pictures! As you know, good help on the forum, so stay tuned in! Oh yeah, welcome aboard once again to actually posting! And congrats on the boat!

Welcome aboard, @jim_bo !

You have come to the right place. Congrats on the Yamaha.

Welcome aboard! You will love your Yammi!

It looks like you filled in the gashes to cover the exposed fiberglass. What did you use?

Hey Dennis! We may have seen your boat around, and perhaps drooled a little on it . . . . Great community, and good to know there's help close by! Vise versa btw!

Wow, you werent kidding when you said you're not afraid to take on a project

@Cobra Jet Steering LLC will be the best one to tell you if you can bend those fins back, he also has a sale on the new bigger ones.

Not seen those diverters laying around with anyone....pretty sure you'll have to order them from a parts dealer like Yamahasportsplaza.com

:Welcome: Jim!
You made me laugh when you said you have "trust issues" when it comes to folks working on your boat - sounds like a LOT of us here on the forum!

Welcome jim_bo... that boat is going to be GREAT <<< with tony the tiger voice.
