South Florida buyer survey for ‘16 Yamaha 242

Contemplating buying a 242 from private seller in south Florida (I’m in Tx) and wanted groups thoughts on using a pre-purchase surveyor? I’m not very mechanical so assume a surveyor could tell me more than my kicking tires. Any suggestions for surveyors in south Florida near Pompano/FtLauderdale? Other considerations?

I hired a marine surveyor for the purchase of a used jetboat and it was money well spent. You’d want to insure they have some knowledge of jetboats or at a minimum Yamaha jet skis:

I helped out a new member looking at a 2014 he traveled from PA to Long Island. With close to 20 years on jet boats I knew what to look for and it also helped me in my search for the 2017 242 x that was recently purchased. Pointing out items that had issues was commical hearing the explanations from the previous owner . Noticing the steering was locked the owner said, “ it has power steering “ the cables did loosen when forced but it needed new cables. Maybe someone is local with some knowledge to help out and get a ride
