Hey Members,

I purchased 4 Polk DB651s for the SX240. I pulled the stock speakers and noticed the connection wont work as one of the male connectors on the speaker is way too small for the female connector on the boat. Does everyone just cut the female one and add a new one? Whats the best way of wiring these up?

The safest way would be to cut off the connector and put another one on there that fits. What I did which may not be recommended is to use some crimpers and carefully squeeze them down so it will fit snuggly on the connector. West marine sells some Ancor connectors the will probably fit.

I did this as well.. i think the correct size for the small connector was 0.110. It fit tightly and is very snug. I found some Marine grade ones, i couldn't find them doing a very quick search, but getting something like is listed below (except marine grade if possible)

Why not solder? I just replaced my factory speakers and after looking at the connections if you're going through the trouble of new connectors you might as well just solder directly to the speaker for peace of mind.

Why not solder?

Strangely some people find soldering to be a challenge. I just solder the wires to the speakers. Who needs connectorso_O

I just bent in or out and crimped tighter. 7 years later no issues.

You guys rock. Another reason why I love this forum. I asked a general question and you guys replied with the exact specs of what I needed.
