Looking for an installer for amplifier and tower speakers on a 2020 AR190. Can anyone recommend someone in Raleigh area that installs marine electronics?

I can't help find an installer but the install is pretty easy if you wanted to do it your self, plenty of us could help you walk through it.

Perhaps we need to have a Raleigh area speaker installation gathering??? This isn't hard to do....I have the tools....the only hard part on a tower install is fishing the wire through. The rest is simple.

Ha I would love this. I'd like to add an amp and maybe upgrade speakers. This could be a great winter project but am a bit worried about messing something up.

Really hard to mess up speakers and amps. Does your head unit or amps have rca outputs? That will make it really easy.

I'll need to determine this. Is I understand it, the head unit is at the swim platform on 242 correct?

On my boat the headunit is by the battery with the other amps. It is a black box. It is then connected to the master screen/remote that is on the swim platform. On the X, the Polk amps have a output I was able to plug into for my 3rd amp. Does your boat have an extra amp?

I'm swamped right now, but perhaps I could drop by one weekend in Jan....depending on where your boat is?

Leaving it at Rolling View over the winter. I could go in the next week or so and see if I can determine if I have RCA jacks and the amp(s) you had referred to. Then establish a game plan?

It took me a while for me to get to the boat but it looks like I have an amp behind the helm with RCA jacks...

Yup.....looks like in the top left of that photo you have some available RCAs. So adding an amp there would not be hard. I'm about to go on vacation, but I'd be happy to show you how to do this in Mid april. Also lots of us available to consult on the forum! It is really quite easy!

Yes, so with me taking some time to get in there and really look, it does seem like it may not be a difficult as I first thought. I think my first step is choosing an amp, need to decide number of channels and needed wattage. At some point I will likely change the speakers and perhaps add the sound bar, but not a sub. Lastly I just added a deep cell house battery plus I have my starter battery. I read some reviews on amps draining batteries within a few hours. I will not be cranking the volume up, I'm really just looking for better sounding music. Thanks

My boat has 3 amps and 2 batteries. I don't sit with it cranking for long periods....never drained my house battery.

Your biggest challenge will be getting power behind the helm for the new AMP. I would run a heavy duty power and ground line to a fuse block behind the helm. That way you can use that fuse block to add other items should you want them (Marine radio, GPS, USB charge ports etc). I bought a 2 line wrapped cable to do this on my boat (but I didn't need a massive amp guage wire - I ran 8awg-you can see it in one of these photos-a white wire with red and black 8 guage wire coming out of it). But if you look at this link:
And assume a 20 foot run, with 1% drop, and 10 amps, 8 guage works. A 600 watt amp will only draw 5 amps.....so that would give you plenty of room (any electrical folks please chime in if I have this wrong....I know lots of people on here are pulling MASSIVE cable through their boats). In my application, 8 gauge was massive overkill as I am powering 5 amps MAX. You can also control this by the fuse you run it though at the battery.......put a 10amp fuse there and that would blow.

If you look at the 242X link in my signature you will find a bunch of links on my installs (if you don't see my signature it is because you are on a phone...turn it sideways and you'll see signatures appear!)

In the process of deciding whether or not to do audio upgrades myself or take it to a shop.

Totally doable by yourself.....really depends on how much time you have, and the value you place on that time! I enjoy doing upgrades, so it becomes a fun project for me (my hobby). What do you want to do? If its just swapping out stock speakers...that is easy. Adding amps and cutting in new speakers still not hard...just more time consuming.

It isn't that bad to the install, but it depends on what your time is worth. The other issue is finding a trust worth and good shop. Plenty of people will pay. That is why I am in the process of opening an install shop lol.

Thanks for the detailed response @Julian, I'm heading to Topsail with the family (and boat) for a week this weekend I'll surely have some reading time to do some additional research.

Willing to put in the time. Since we don't have the boat yet, (have 2 deposits 1 local in VA 1 in MI)) not sure of all the placements or upgrades. I bought 4 stock WetSounds from someone on the forum, 2 of which will go in the helm on either side of the captains chairs, the other 2 not sure if they will be used or just spares. Tower speakers are definitely going in (Rev 8's probably). don't know how to pair up amp and or sub woofer. Would need to learn the proper installation of a house a battery and of course there's cutting/drilling the holes in the fiberglass. I'm not s mechanic but can tinker some.
