I have the stock Wet Sounds audio system in my 2020 242X. About every trip out, the 3 speakers on the left side of my boat (bow, main sitting & swim deck) stop working. Later in the day, they sometimes come back on. The tower speakers and sound bar are always working. I did check the main red/black wires behind the helm going into the Wet Sounds boxes/amps to see if there was a loose connection.

I'm not familiar yet with the system. Maybe there are loose wires in the plastic connectors.

Anyone here have experience with this issue or possible solutions?

TIA!

Burke

If all wires are secure it is most likely the amp or head unit going out. I would start by reseating all the connectors, then when it goes out I would check to see if you have any red lights on the amp or if it feels overly hot. I'm not familiar with the exact setup on your boat but I would guess those 3 speakers are on the same channel of the amp? Are the tower and sound bar on the same amp or a different one?

Sounds like the amp going into protect mode due to heat or possibly loose connections.

I have a 2024 Yamaha 252SE and these don’t come with tower speakers and I wanted to add them but can’t find the brackets to attach them to the tower. The newer Yamaha boats have them mounted on top of the tower just underneath the Bimini top.
Anyone know where to find these or know exactly how they mount?
Dealership was no help

The stock Yamaha towers speakers are WetSounds - find a dealer in your area. Otherwise JL makes brackets. Heck, anyone could make a bracket...

May or may not be helpful but what is your battery situation? I had the same exact condition, and it would come and go the past year or two. I just replaced the original group 24 batteries this season with Duracell group 27. The originals never gave me a problem, and the solar panel seemed to do a good job of keeping them topped off all summer each season, but I felt after 5 seasons I was pressing my luck. Only been out a few times so far but port and starboard have been solid. Maybe amp just wasn’t getting enough juice from the old batteries. ??‍♂️

Bringing up old thread but my 252SD with Wetsounds system has had this same issues since new. No tower speakers on this boat. All 3 port side speakers work but they play wayyy lower than starboard side. It’s so low you almost can’t tell they are on. I know they are connected though because when I put my finger on the cones they are definitely playing music. Just at a super low level. I checked stern remote volume and setting on connext screen and nothing that solved the problem. I took it to dealer and they said they said everything was fine. When I got home (2 hour trip from dealer) I uncovered the boat and the speakers still were the same way. Could this be a bad amp? Anyone else notice this issue?

Could the three speakers be wired in series? If so, this would effectively cut the power to 1/3 of what it could be. Seems strange it would be happening just on the port side but Yamaha sometimes does weird things with the wiring.

And unless the dealer has an audio guy on staff, not sure I would trust what they say

So the L/R fader was centered?

Still could be a loose wire.

I don’t think it can be that because the 2 stern speakers in the back are part of a seperate zone so the one furthers back port side speaker that has little output is wired to a seperate channel form the other 2 on the port side. From I understand, the other 2 on port side are wired parallel to the amp for 2ohm. The boat is covered for winter otherwise I would check the connections now behind each speaker.

I hear you. These things can be frustrating. I can tell you that the speakers were wired in series in my boat (but on both sides) so I was losing a lot of power until I rewired them.

When you uncover the boat, easy way to check if any speakers are wired in series is to disconnect a wire from one speaker and see if any others stop working.

When I redid my system a few years ago, I had problems with noise and some speakers producing low output. I tried a bunch of different things and concluded the wiring was good.

I then set up a test bench in my garage where I connected each amp (I had 3 at the time) to a battery and then connected a speaker to each channel one after the other and sent a signal to the amp using my iPad.

I learned after doing this that 2 of the 3 amps were bad. Got them repaired and things worked great for 2-3 years. Amps eventually broke down again (they weren't great quality although they sounded good when they worked properly) so I then replaced them with high quality JL Audio amps I bought from Odin at Earmark Audio. He's extremely knowledgeable and was very helpful.

I had the exact same problem with my 2024 252se, I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t figure it out so I emailed wet sounds and the problem was that the amp needed to have an update that didn’t get done at the factory
They mailed me a deal that I plugged into the amp and it reset it in like 20 seconds and that immediately fixed the problem.
