I am looking at different options for making my ballast fill and drain a little easier. I've reviewed what cam, dan, trace, and jcyamaharider have done.

Has anyone considered using a sprinkler system controller for ballast control?

Has anyone T'd off the intake cooling line to fill the ballast? Not sure if this is a good idea due to potential overheat scenario? I monitored my MR1s with YDS while running without water and it takes a little over a minute before they start to get close to overheat levels. That is running from a cold start though.

You could. There 24v power supply might be a little extra work. Building any logic controller would be there hard part. 1" sprinkler valves flow a lot.
