Just a shout out to @mattschepker and Mrs Matt whom I met in person at the St Charles Boat & Motor booth! I think both our wives were amazed that "Internet friends" really do exist in person. :D

Can't wait to meet more of you in Shelbyville this summer, if not sooner!

I know, right?!

He, he, I was there too, talked to Jerry and my last saleman, Terry for a while. They were busy.

That dealership is SOLID. Anyone looking - I give them my enthusiastic recommendations.

We ran into Jeff @007! Looking good my friend!

@BigAbe75 it was very nice to meet you yesterday. Yes internet friends to exist. Overtime they end up becoming some of your best friends. There is a very strong group jet boat owners in the St Louis area. In Shelbyville they referred to us as the St. Lunatics. What lakes or Rivers do you boat

Home base is Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield, IL. Get down to Table Rock twice a year. Been to Shelbyville many moons ago, and Carlyle a few times. Going to try to get down to Rend Lake this season. We've camped there, but never been on the water. Also, thinking to get up to Springfield Lake this year.

So far, never been on a river (unless you count tubing on the Meramec). (For those not in the area - that's unpowered floating with the current in a channel that looks more like an oversized creek to me). How @swatski runs his boat up there is beyond me. Lol. I'll never have the guts for that. :D

Couple more spots on my wish list are Barkley and Cumberland in Kentucky.

Geez, writing that all down makes it sound like a busy summer!!

Believe me the Meramec channel bed is decorated with lower units of my past outboards, in more places than I wish to remember, LOL.
But seriously, the lower run -- down past Valley Park, MO is not too bad, if you know the channel and you don't go when it's too low; when the water is high(ish) it's a gorgeous river.
I would highly recommend checking out Kaskaskia river. One of the best places in the whole Midwest for water sports, nicely dredged channel, for the most part, and usually no wind, flat water (unlike Carlyle!). Sounds like you are not too far from New Athens, IL which is my favorite launching spot there.

I should clarify, I'm really only familiar with a small section of the Meramec near St. Clair MO where my uncle lives. So, I could have an incomplete view. Will definitely agree how beautiful the area is though. Sure different from the flat lands that I'm used to around here.

Good tip on the Kaskaskia. I always forget about that, even though I have a friend that now has a 50' houseboat on it. I'll need to figure out what marina he uses. :)

Watch out for them St Lunatics. They will suck you into their ways and you will be going to bed when normal people are waking up.

Man sorry I missed meeting you guys !!! I was at the boat show also , but got stuck in a two hour line for the zip line !! Uggg , the things we do for our kids !!!

You mean that zip line??? My girls went up after they said they were closed...
I tell you, my kids can be very convincing.

BTW - that zip line tower was located right by the old Rams' stadium entrance! I had to hit the restroom -- just to check if Kurt Warner's spirit was still there.

Can't believe that I missed the meeting. We was with Matt all day. :(
