I have a 2014 212SS and the starboard mid cleat was loose. I tried the crawling in the storage area behind the captains seat only to find out I'm to fat to fit. Looked at coming in from the area below the dashboard, yep to fat to fit. Read on line if you pull the throttle body out you may be able to get to it. No luck as I'm not gumby.

I was at a point I either take it to a dealer to have a stupid nut tighten or I resort to maybe cutting a hole. The hole is the route I decided to go. BUT, I found out that the factory is kind enough to give me a hole already. Just pull off the metal plate. You know the one with weight limits and number of people allowed in the boat. yeah that plate which is held on with 4 rivets. I drilled them out and found the perfect hole behind the plate for tightening that crazy starboard mid cleat.IMG_4053.JPGIMG_4054.JPG

Whaaatt????? That is crazy. Thank you for posting.

Anyone knows what models have that bypass?

Ha...and all the contorted moves I've been making.

I had to go to hot Yoga classes for 6 months to be able to reach mine. That is way easier. Cam.

PS. now I have eye strain. Apparently too much time staring.

Whaaaaaaaaat? very cool to know thanks for having a lose cleat.

Wow that is awesome to know.

Wow!

Now, what is there on the other side for the mid cleat. Must be something...

@Robert Sands -- coincidence? You jjust posted a question about this. Check out this thread.

Awesome discovery! Anyone have any insight to the port side mid cleat? Just noticed mine very loose last week. weeeeeee!

You can either pull they love box out and reach up or crawl in the compartment. I crawled in the compartment.

That's such a great find. You must've been really frustrated if you were willing to drill a hole. That would sucked to drill a hole first and then find that hole hiding there later.

Yes frustration comes to mind. My goal was to cut the hole and cover with the plate. So, when I removed the plate I was surprised to find the hole already cut. Just got lucky!

yea I figured that out this summer. I posted on the facebook page. I was going to hole saw behind that plate. I am dreading the stern cleats.....I bet the port side stern table mount has a hole behind it as well....then you have the small hole for the starboard side using the radio remote....ugh...lol

On my 04 ar230 I found the big stainless nut on the floor. I didn't know what it was for until I ended up in the port hatch thing. It took three attempts to get in there! I tightened up the loose nuts on that cleat and realized the nut I found was for the starboard side cleat. It's way smaller, so I sent my wife in with some red lock tight.

@bgood188 How did you reattach the plate?

Wow. Great find.
Wish I knew about this before I jammed my son up in there to tighten mine.
