Question, on the 1.8 liters, after pulling the pumps and shafts, can you start the motors without any issues? Running water through them of course. I have a 2015 SX 240 and based on the date the engines were built they have the earlier cam chain design. Want to hear them without the clatter of the impellers in the sleeves. I can’t think why I shouldn’t be able to do this with no problem , but always better to ask and be safe than tear something up.

I dont see why you cant. Just clamp off the pickup hose.
I have done it on many jet skis

If you want to inspect the chain then its simpler to remove the valve cover, and then bump the starter to inspect each link. I did it at the beginning of the season and plan to do it at the end. The gasket is reusable, but you need to put a little silicone at the corners.

At 100 hours my chain looked fresh. I'll see soon how it looks with 160 hours.
