I just bought a brand new sx210 2015 and I already ordered 4 jl mx650, one m10ib5 subwoofer with a m700.5 amp. I'm thinking to install my self. Pls give me ideas an recommendations
seems like the amp goes under the rear passenger seat and the sub goes under the glove box. At least that's what I am thinking at this moment. Not excited about cutting a large hole under the glove box though...
Hi Lazaro,
Welcome to the site. Please try the search function and you should find plenty of good examples with pics for your modification. I am working on my 21' stereo mod now adding amps and more speakers and I found everything I needed within this site, including some clarifications via PM from members. My amps are going under the helm and my extra speakers mid cockpit, no sub for now.
Good luck with your mod and please post up your outcome for others to learn from.
I don't have any better pics that what I have posted and the description in that post I linked to, sorry. Glued some 1x4s to the wall (ran vertically from the floor to as high as I could), mounted the amp to the 1x10 carpeted board, then screwed the board to the strips (after the glue cured/set). I think the key with this was to make sure the 1x4s were wide/long enough to get screws in thru the amp board to those 1x4s around the sides of the amp. My amp was pretty long, so I almost had to remove the amp to add more screws to secure the carpeted board better. Should have planned that part a bit better.
I did see some other installs that might work with smaller amps on this forum where the cut a board that spans the opening on the back of the helm (hard to explain). Here's that post I'm thinking about, I thought that was a good idea and I will probably do this when I add a second amp for tower speakers since I don't have any more space on the board that I have for the 6-channel amp. https://jetboaters.net/threads/2016-ar240-budget-stereo-upgrade.7719/
