The struts were getting slightly rusty and seemed to be sticking a bit so I decided to buy a new pair of struts to replace them. They are 15" length extended with 30lbs of force. I decided to go with the 40lbs unit to give extra boost.

This was a simple replacement plug-n-play. No modification is necessary!

ski locker strut in action

Yep. I replaced my engine cover struts about two years ago. Also replaced them on the tailgate of my 4Runner and 2008 Prius. I consider them expendables like oil filters but of course they last longer. Dead simple to install and it saves getting bumped on the head.

My swim platform struts keep coming loose where the bracket screws to the boat. I gave up fixing them.

I just replaced mine a month a go easy fix but had screw the bracket into new holes
