Hey guys, hooking up a powered sub this weekend and trying to do some pre planning, my question is, if I place sub in rear seat compartment where can I tap for a ground? The wiring kit I have has a short ground 18 on ground wire.

I would splice a length of wire to the ground wire and run it to the negative post on the battery.

I'll be hooking up an amp, sub and maybe some other toys on the same boat, I would love to see pics.

As for your question, can't you run a ground to your battery? Are you running a single battery?

Someone else can chime is as I am definitely not knowledgeable in this area, trying to get there.

Would a bus bar be a good idea here?

A busbar would work perfectly, especially if you have more items you will/might be grounding. Just remember to sufficiently size the wire from the busbar to the battery to carry all the load on the busbar.

Crutchfield has a amp wire guage calclator. If using a quality class d amp and quality wire you can substitue 75 percent efficency and still be plenty safe. Ground blocks and in line fuses are perfectly fine and will have minimal impact on resistance. Splices on the other hand; especially when considering large guage wire are not prefered even when done right.

Grounding the amp and the head unit back to the negative terminal of the battery will work best for most. A properly sized bus bar off the battery is good method of creating a common path to ground for the electronics.

Note the grounding block below amps.
Now my problem is i want add another!

the grounding block has the two red cables on 1 side and 1 maroon cable on the other?

I am guessing both amps ground to the bar, and the bar then connects to a negative on your battery?

I like that idea! I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff, didn't realize I could ground to the neg terminal. The kit I have gave me a pretty beefy ground wire, it's just not very long

Yes the cable coming out the right goes to the battery and the two out the left to the amps. All red wires i know i know. I mark ground by wrapping black electrical tape on ends.
8 gauge to amps and 4 to battery. A class d amp and a 150x2 amp so they don't do a ton of drain. All rms numbers.

Ok guys have another question, I have to hook up the remote turn on wire, where do I hook this in at the head unit. It says if source doesn't have a dedicated remote turn on lead to connect to the sources power antenna lead

**I got.it figured out, Thanks

Well, got it all hooked up and tuned, sounds great! However, first time out, a little bit of chop, blew the amp fuse..anything I should look at as a culprit?

** I've tightened and checked all my connections, now as soon as the speakers come alive after turning head unit on the fuse blows, that's 3 fuses any help is appreciated, thinking maybe something faulty in the sub itself
