Surge brake disconnect

I have a 2013 trailer. Brought boat home for the first time this year to clean and wax and as I was backing the boat into the driveway, the reverse light wiring disconnect for deactivating the trailer brakes decided to stop working. Simple solution to this problem? I do have the manual deactivator so I can still reverse the trailer, just a hassle.

Mine has a little magnetic piece that locks out the surge brakes when you back up without power.

Magnetic? That would be cool. I have to use tape to hold mine in place.
