SW florida Jet boat owners

Hi,
I live in SWFL (ft myers) i am looking for my first boat. i am really interested on a yamaha jet boat. I am looking at a 2019 242 e series. since i have never own a boat. my questions to owners in the area. How do this boats handle the gulf waters? can you go to the islands captiva, north captiva or cayo costa with a jet boat or am i better with a Outboard? i will appreciate your input. I have to make a decision soon because there are many buyers looking at the same boat.

I’m in utter shock you found one available. As for the boat handling the Gulf, you have no worries within reason (small craft advisory, high Chop waves)

I got the 2019 SX195 because it fit in my garage and it does pretty good running up and down the coast..I agree you should be good in a 242.

I go to Goodland all the time from Miami. Its actually where I bought boat.
Best lessons are leaned during the week when ramps are empty
What do you need from someone to show you.
Navigating towards Sanibel and North or South to Lover's key is not bad.

Cape Coral here. Just purchased my Scarab 215 about two weeks ago. First time boat owner. Still getting used to the slow speed handling of a jet boat and navigating our crazy waters! Yes you can definitely get to Cayo Costa and Sanibel with our boats. I went to Cayo with an experienced friend last week, but not yet confident enough to attempt it myself. Navionics helps, but some parts of the waterways still confuse me.

I make a special system that will make your boat much more controllable in waves, wind and strong currents it also adds some planing surfaces under the nozzles to make the ride smoother in chop as well as provide faster planing. Also better high sped turns with a lot less speed bleed off and a lot more control at slow speed and it also has a second tie rod for redundancy and improved longevity of the original parts. Once you drive the boat a bit and you find the steering response less than what you would prefer I would suggest adding the Cobra Super Magnum AK-19 Deluxe system to the boat. This way you can practice smiling and enjoying the boat more and practice learning to handle the boat less.
