I have a 2020 212S and the swim platform ladder is really hard to unhook and re-hook. My wife couldn't do it and I had to put some muscle into it. It feels like the spring is total compresed and I am crushing the springs coils. My older 190 had a black rubber strap. Anyone else having this issue?

Ours is the same on the same boat. Here's the trick, be aware of both sides of the retention gap/hook when stowing or taking out. Both sides have to come out/in as one and at a fairly straight 90 degree angle to the transom when the end of the ladder is near the latching hooks. If you try to slide it in and feel resistance, at least in our case, it's because you're trying to hook or unhook it from an angle.

This has been a cause of frustration for my wife, especially if we're stowing the ladder while standing on the boat, and 5/10 times I have to come back and do it. Or we forget all together and drive for miles with the ladder down ? ?

Thanks for the input ?

Yeah, I have a SX195 and have the same issue Those little hooks have to be exactly 90 degrees to their latch or it doesn’t want to go. Friend of mine has a FSH with the rubber strap, that is definitely a better design

Ahh, and yet, people bitched for years that the little rubber strap should never rot and disintegrate, and yet it did, and folks said it was a poor design. I guess we can't make everyone happy, only educate our spouses.

I have replaced my FSH 190's rubber strap twice in 3 years, and I am OK with it. A sub $7 cost each year is an acceptable cost for my wife to be able to do it herself..
