SX190 and battery charging

How often should you charge the battery when stored in a garage. I charge the battery to 100% and after 2 weeks or so when I hook the charger back up its shows the battery at 80% or so? Just want make sure I'm not doing more damage then good. TIA!

You need an onboard charger and not a trickle charger. Plug the boat in any time it’s not in use. This will keep batteries maintained as they should be. Should last you years if used in that method.

But what if you boats sitting in the winter for 4 to 5 mos do you still leave the battery charger plugged in that long?

I don't have anything fancy setup. Just a simple Noco 2x2 setup. The only time my batteries are not plugged in is when the boat is not in the garage. It was hooked up the whole winter.

I leave mine plugged in for that long during winter. That is what they’re for. The onboard chargers are not the same as a trickle charger. The onboard chargers are “smart” chargers in that they sense when the battery is topped off and will lower charge voltage accordingly. They also will periodically change voltage to keep batteries fresh, this is called “maintenance” mode or whatever feature they like to call it depending on the onboard charger brand. If I’m not using my boat it’s plugged in, as they should be. DO NOT do this with a trickle charger lol. Any of the ProMariner or NOCO Genius chargers will be good brands that many people use. I’ve had good luck with the ProMariner brand on both of my boats.
