Tampa Bay - would you?

Nope, lol! I looked outside to see my tree's swaying back and forth. Checked the wind and the waves, yikes!.

Are you staying in the intercostal or going out on the gulf side ? This is my stomping grounds The weather has been ridiculous yesterday they shut down the sky way bridge due to high winds. Today in your boat you should be ok but I hear the tides will be a bit strong .

Tides for Egmont Key, Egmont Channel starting with April 20, 2019. Day High Tide Height Sunrise Moon Time % Moon
/Low Time Feet Sunset Visible

Sa 20 High 1:38 AM 1.6 7:02 AM Set 8:04 AM 99
20 Low 5:37 AM 0.8 7:58 PM Rise 9:28 PM
20 High 12:39 PM 2.3

A 2.3 high tide just after noon will be pretty high

Can you translate that for a layman? I was concerned with the waves and wind speed but what can I expect with a higher than average high tide?

We're dealing with the same down here. My buddy is out in his sailboat right now and says it's "interesting". We're about to go attempt to pull @DieselCamel 's boat out of the water for some maintenance, so I guess we're about to find out. I already ruled today out for my boat unfortunately, my balls aint' big enough for this.

Like @AJack said, it's a good maintenance weekend. I wouldn't go out, it's not worth it. On the other hand, since I live it Riviera Bay, water sports are always a "go". ;)

Doesn't look at all pleasant. You'll get soaked in spray and take a beating if you go over 15mph.

Those are tropical problems...
Looks like a nice spring day for those of us up north!

Yep, sucks here...I actually meant I’d take your forecast over mine and your forecast would be a nice day up here.

Only water my boat is seeing is rain water

LOL...true, we take a lot of this for granted. But, that's why I moved here 30 years ago (from New England); job and weather.

Tides are important to monitor, because where your boat is anchored now may become a parking lot in a few hours.

LOL, Reminds me when the boys were little we had a 25' SeaRay cabin cruiser. We spent the night at one of the spoil islands off the ICW north of Dunedin Causeway. We anchored up for the night. Waking up the next morning, with the boat leaned over, water way at least 30 feet away. Good old days...

The wind and waves are forecast in the same direction. The spacing is wide so less choppy. If the wind direction shifts it will become a terrible mess.

I would not go out unless it was convenient in a lightly loaded boat and only as a learning experience.

That also goes the other way on where you decide to park also
