It's been fairly quiet this year on predictions and wants for the new 2018 lineup. Seems like Yamaha is satisfying more and more people which leaves a lot less things to wish we had on the boats.

So....... what do you all think will change on the 2018 lineup that is typically unveiled in mid August?

Those pictures floating around of the 21' FSH look cool. I can't wait to see that up close

Kinda funny that this surfaces as I am looking to get into a center console but not sure 21' is enough.

I wonder if they might revamp the whole Connex thing?

I hope they do! The Connext is a huge miss in my book. It needs to operate as smoothly and flawlessly as you would expect from a MFD. There is limited room on the new boats for additional screens, so they should make the factory one better. They don't have to add $10k worth of electronics to every boat, but open it up so that it can be upgraded as needed. (Sonar, Radar, Navigation, autopilot, NMEA connectivity, ability to customize screens, etc...)

I don't see Connext going anywhere, I do see them enhancing it with more option capabilities, like a chart plotter, fish finder etc. The 1.8's aren't going anywhere, the hull design is staying the same, BNG (bold new graphics) and design tweeks is really all I can foresee. Hard to make the best better! LOL!

Can you link said pictures? My friend is dying for a 21' FSH with twins. Thats when he will be a convert!

Is this a Yamaha only thread?

I'd be curious to hear what the other brands have coming out as well.

The 2018 Yamaha's definitely need:
  1. FAR BETTER Quality Control at the plant!! I think we all can agree on that. The stink is kind of lingering at this point and each year it seems quality takes a small step back. FSH is a boat that doubles as a bath tub, all other new boats (minus the 19' SX/AR) have the anchor locker issue, loose exhaust bolts causing boats to flood, even little things like the all 19' AR's having a Bimini that isn't truly adjustable (my top is already coming apart at the seams from all the tension), I could go on. These are all fixable issues that stem from poor attention to detail beginning at the design board down to the shop floor and then poor QA final inspection to top it off.
  2. Connext needs an overhaul. The voltage readout issue, fuel reading issue, hard resets, screen delamination, confusing GUI, etc. Connext at one time was something I wanted to have on my next boat but there's no way I would want a Connext boat today. K.I.S.S. and lets Make Rocker Switches Great Again!
  3. Hinged seats for everyone!
  4. Do away with the full seat on the engine hatch for 19' SX/AR boats and instead use a filler cushion like every other boat in the lineup has.
  5. 19' SX/Ar boats need a small bluetooth radio at the captains helm. No more glove box radio nonsense.
  6. No misleading advertising this year. I'm looking at you 242X with adding (hiding) aftermarket ballast. Let's see some jet surf or Wake shaping development like the Chaps have at least.

They'd be smart to start putting speakers at the helm for all the models! Usually the captain/driver is buying the boat....and it is him/her that wants the stereo sound too!

I'd buy that SR310 in a HEART BEAT.

Unrelated, I do think there is a good chance we'll see new 24-ft hull this year. They seem to be on a new hull every 4 years cycle... which has occurred 3 times now... this is that year.

I'm probably wrong, but I thought the last major change was '10 - '14, then '15 to current. That would be 5 model years previous, and only 3 on the current.

Am I confused? I'm sort of looking at '11s and 12s, now. So, I want to make sure I've got the years right. I think I'm wearing the wife down, she's going to give in soon. Lol!

Exactly. 2015+4.

I'm getting mixed info on when dealers will start to accept deposit and when the 2018's will arrive. Anyone have info on this ? Does it make a difference e on where the dealer is located? I'm looking at the sx195, in AZ, can't find a 2017 anywhere close
