I don't think I will ever own one but is nice to dream! I wonder if you can surf behind those bad boys :D

I doubt I would ever buy a MEGA Yacht. . . . . . But I would definitely get a 60-80 footer. I love the water, and the boating lifestyle too much to (knot) have one. = )

@0627Devildog my wife and I always talk about our retirement plans (25ish years away) and how much we would love to purchase something we could live on and take a year or so and do the great American loop. We will see how things turn out, but definitely something to work towards! Whatever boat that is that you posted looks pretty interesting.

We will certainly never own a super yacht, but we will probably have cruiser some day. Even if we did win a multimillion dollar lottery or something it still wouldn't happen. I'd rather have something of a reasonable size and never have to work again.

The loop is our plan too. Hope to see you there if I can retire in 25 years.

It's the top of the line Sea Ray L650 Fly Bridge. . . . . . The wife and I are in the same boat (pun intended) 25 ish years away from retirement and I am DYING to do the great American loop before I die.

Sadly those costs, as a percent of total asset cost, are better than maintaining and crewing a corporate aircraft.

1.4 Million in wages for the crew. How do I apply for these jobs? I can be the Captain!

All yours man! $1.4M for a crew of 56 = 25K per person....I'll pass.
Typically there are 3 people on a yacht that make good $. The Captain, Chief Engineer and Chief Stew are the bread winners.

@Julian ... but I bet you get your meals free :D

Yeah....sounds like fun! Share a room the size of a shoe box with a bunch of other guys and run around "serving" some super rich @#$hole that probably treats you like a subservient slave (or worse)!

The high light of your day is peeing in his drink..... followed by ogling his trophy wive(s). But don't get caught or you might become a eunuch!

There are exceptions to the rules....but 75% of the super rich I've met are totally self absorbed _________(fill in your favorite slur).

So you want a job to help me? It sounds like you know what to expect on your first day! LOL -- At least I don't have to live aboard and its not every day all day.

I like the looks of those batteries. You should see me struggle with 110lb batteries while standing on my head in a bilge.

I know not all experiences are the same. But, I know someone who served aboard Ron Perelman's yacht. . . . he is the 69th richest man in the world. Half the time it's just the crew on the ship headed to/from a destination to meet the owners. I am not saying the job is for everyone (or that I would even consider it). But for some it can be a great opportunity to travel and see some cool places.

(edited to update spelling of Perelman)
