Thoughts on what to put in depth gauge spot

When I bought my boat the OE depth gauge did not work properly and I replaced it with a Garmin unit. My question to the group is what should I put in it's place? I was thinking about a voltage meter but as soon as I pull the trigger and buy one something else will come up that I didn't think of. I'm not opposed to leaving it the way it is but I figure if there is something that I could use in that spot I might as well.

I would put a voltmeter setup there. One for house bat's, one for starting batt.

Also... Looking at your boat has made me question how faded the dash on my Sx230 might be. Yours is very shiny, mine is not shiny at all, more like a matte gray wood effect...

I have one of these installed, but it's quite a bit smaller. It works better on the dash, as you would need filler.

I have one port & starboard side for charging, just without the display.


Perfect pass would be ideal but no dice on a 230 series

Voltmeter is a good idea. How about a real temperature gauge for the engines?

Too much effort, but I'd want to put in a round head unit (but they probably aren't that small) and then put the Garmin about where the radio is now.

Googling "boat round gauge" spring up some ideas.

I was literally just typing engine temperature when the "new posts have been added popped up,

not sure how hard it would be to get a double display for each engine though ??

also and even thinking about it more,
someone changed that out and just put a blank in there and installed a ram mount on it for their gps but you could put a phone holder,

One of these?? Hook it to a battery in the shop to get it set to the actual hours on the engines and then install it in the dash connected to the key switches.

I'm thinking of something useful for the area, I just don't think an hour meter would be that important to me, I think the volt meter would be looked at more,

I originally thought about some sort of dummy light for when the bilge is pumping or high water alarm, if you put a blank in that space you could probably hook up a couple different lights,

I thought the phone holder would be good as I often monitor the radar on my phone while out and it keeps my phone in a static spot in case of emergency, it's there,

If my backup alarm doesn't get my attention for high water I doubt a dummy light will. Right now I'm still not sure, keep my options open

I did a GlowShift volt meter and appreciate it. I can be sure mags are charging back when engines on and monitor for low voltage after listening to tunes in a cove for a few hours. (far left position)
