Throttle cable adjustment/sync

Quick heads up and looking for any tricks.

My throttles were not well synchronized...maybe 1/4 inch off at mid throttle to get the same RPMs.
So, I followed the procedure below. I found that with levers full forward, the starboard side was not at the full throttle stop at the linkage, so I adjusted. Just like the video...

But now the left throttle is fully an inch forward to get the same rpms as the right throttle.

Check my reasoning here: This means the right throttle is opening up more and I need to actually loosen that cable, right? And/or tighten the left one.

Point being, making the adjustment at the full forward throttle position does not always equate to synchronized throttles...

your point is accurate. Throttle positioning could be right, but if one of your impellers is different from the other or there is some difference between the engines (maybe an air filter is oil fouled) then it doesn't matter how well sync'd the throttle cable positions are ;-).

I have the same issue from the factory..my port throttle is about a quarter inch off from the starboard throttle. The dealer I purchased from clearly did not water test my boat before I took delivery, now I am sorting out all of the bugs on my own because they were too lazy to do so themselves. Either that or drive it back and forth an hour every time I find something not adjusted or set up correctly. I will try the sync procedure and get back to this thread once I have more input. Being that the boat only has 6 hours on it, I would think that there should be too many other variables affecting my RPM.

I loosened up both throttle cables first so neither one was reaching full throttle; that way i knew neither was overtightened. I then set both to just hit the full throttle stops. Both of my engines now run in sync, close enough that I can use the jetboatpilot throttle handle sync with little problem. And yes, I'm anal about the engines being in sync.
