Thrust Vector and Lateral Thruster Compatibility

Good evening guys and gals. I wanted to take a quick moment and make a public statement that I believe is important in regards to installing steering enhancements to your jet boat, especially when it comes to the topic of combining systems from two different manufacturers.

For starters JetBoatPilot designed the Thrust Vectors to be compatible with Lateral Thrusters. This makes sense for us to do so and further we include a limited lifetime warranty on both parts knowing the risks that we're exposed to.

We did not however plan for and allow for JetBoatPilot products to be combined with other systems that are on the market today. The logic is that in the case of an incident where the boat were grounded and damage was done to the boat, fins, jet pump, etc. we do not want to get into a finger pointing match trying to find out who's responsible for the bill.

Thrust Vectors are made to be flexible and to pivot out of harm's way in the event of a grounding or strike at speed. Other fin systems are in many cases rigid mounted and don't offer the same flexibility. Additionally installing multiple systems in some cases could require that a single factory mount location carry the additional stress of two additional systems, a scenario that Yamaha engineers did not allow for I can assure you.

Lateral Thrusters are rigid mounted beneath the jet pump but do not hang down beneath the boat. We've designed them to have at least an inch of clearance above the ride plate, which is several inches above the center of the keel. We do not feel that there is any measurable risk associated with installing a set of Lateral Thrusters in regards to potential for damage to the product or causing damage to the boat.

JetBoatPilot applauds the efforts of the other manufacturers in this market and are glad that capitalism is alive and well in our space. We too like to offer options and hope that people are getting their needs met. In the future combining systems could be discussed and possibly endorsed under the right circumstances but as of this date we do not believe that it is in the best interest of the customer to do so nor in the best interest of the company to do so. There are just too many question marks.

As always we will gladly honor our limited lifetime warranty on Lateral Thrusters and Thrust Vectors as long as these systems are used in the manner in which they were designed. If Thrust Vectors or Lateral Thrusters are used in a manner in which they were not designed, such as combining with other steering enhancement systems, and damage is done to the Thrust Vectors or Lateral Thrusters, the limited lifetime warranty may be voided.

As I posted previously the federal warranty laws would require a manufacturer to PROVE another manufacturers part caused their part to fail and then only that part could have it's warranty voided.
I am offering mega fangs for thrust vectors as another option for you folks even though I have no doubt the cobra steering system is superior to the thrust vector system.
I will take this as a possible unfair business practice and suggest that this is one more reason you should follow others lead. Plenty of posts on removing the thrust vectors and replacing them with my steering systems however it is my intent to open up options for you.
If others have no desire to offer you choices then analyze this action and hopefully you can see right through it.
Mega fangs will be available for thrust vectors, Magnum ak steering is compatible with lateral thrusters and soon I will have a bracket for the compatibility of the Ultimate steering also, not because I think this is a better idea but because you should have the option to choose what makes you happy.
If someone wishes to mix and match that is just fine with me I have a warranty on my parts and that warranty will remain in place because I encourage you to buy what you want and use it to accommodate your style of boating.
Honestly I always say do your research and buy your last steering system first but often people don't.

Well I know Cobra Jet offers a discounted repair even if someone rear-ends you if towing, not sure if they do or not. I guess make sure you get the best system so you don't run into things.

Even if your ladder is down, it should be kicked up from water pushing on it. there should be NO way it should interfere with the thrust vectors...

Our warranty policy does not state that we cover damage caused by grounding but in the past we have replaced parts as a statement of good will in these events on a case by case basis.

I'll have to disagree with this statement. I think this board is all about sharing our experiences and help others solve their problems. I can't imagine not knowing what to do about a cracked scupper, faulty horn, stuck cleanout plug, my PP display going out or even Swatski's tower failing. These are all MFG issues but it takes us as a community to solve them or at least make others aware of them.

I'm very concerned for Peter Alonzo and would like to know the outcome of his situation. Did he have his TV's installed upside down? Does he have deformed nozzles, a new style boarding ladder or does his TV's really hit his boarding ladder while turning on plane. I believe that Will will do what it takes to make it right because that's the way he seems to run his company but I don't think it requires it to be done in private (unless Peter Alonzo wants to handle it that way).

As of now, when someone with a 2018 asked about steering, I'll have to put that caveat on any response just as I previously would have with the spray issue before it was addressed.

I will have to agree 100% with this. Critique a product but if someone wants to buy something whether its fins, PP, a Seadoo or an outboard, let's enjoy their experience and let them deal with the outcome.

I don't see how that is helping anyone here.

And besides:
Any aftermarket system will endow a boat with additional potential failure points. Every single steering modification I had seen here carries a certain risk of failure and potential impact on the OEM steering components. Which is an important consideration - OEM parts are generally way more expensive than all the aftermarket steering mods!
