I have an old towable and some random rope. I think the rope is right about 50'. You lay down, face first on the old towable and at 50' you get a nearly constant spray of water in your face.
The new towable from Costco (https://www.costco.com/ho-sports-striker-3-towable-with-rope-and-12v-pump.product.100702604.html) came with a rope that is also 50'. With this towable you are seated, so the water isn't quite as bad. I took the extension off my old Wakeboard/Ski Rope and pushed the towable back another 15'. This seems to be behind the splash from the engines.
After 2 Days of towing kids on the tube, I broke the rope extension. I assume 3 kids is just too much force on the smaller rope. I was able to tie a knot in it and we used it for the final day. I attached the tow line to the lower anchor point.
On the wakeboard, the 60' line attached to the tower seems to be a pretty good distance. I got up easily and didn't notice any splash from the engines.
What do you guys use to extend the tow line? I assume I can just cut a spare rope to add 15'.
What do you find is a good length for towables and Wakeboarding?
Thanks
