Towable storage

While boat camping last year I realized that with all our gear and people we were loaded to the brim and struggled with things blowing off our boat, I would like some ideas for towing our camping gear other than piling it on the boat and sitting kids on top of it.

I found this but it requires an additional trailer which I don't want to do.

Do you need to keep it dry? I wonder if you could use an inflatable boat to carry your camping gear. Perhaps packed in dry bags.

That may be the way I end up going once everything is said and done I'm just concerned about tipping it over and losing all my gear, What appeals to me about the above design is that the unit is sealed so your speeds won't be affected and your gear is safe and dry.

Could you haul the cargowave to the ramp inside your boat?

@Raphael , not sure if you have a tower but you can carry a lot with a tower and the side racks. some people even made some storage by adding pockets on the underside of their biminis. If you are starting to do grills and camping, that cargowave would be great.

I remember seeing a "frontier" one time when I was at Powell. That looked like it would work pretty well (even though it looked like 2 banana tubes with a trampoline on top of it). I feel your pain, too much crap and not enough space. It doesn't get any better w/ a houseboat... somehow you still find a way to bring too much stuff.

Something like this? I bought cots this year because I swore I would never sleep on a air mattress again but the consequence of this is space.

yeah. thats the one. looked exactly like that too. i think most of the benefit of those is how fast you can go while towing it.

there are cheap reusable dry sacks you can get at REI. We use them for hiding electronics and towels in case water comes over the bow, but I could see towing a big island tube at slow speeds full of those sacks. Actually, I just thought of another option would be to get one of those 5 person Molecule's (the blue one with 3 balls) and then you could use that as a platform. The nice thing about those kinds of tubes is they tow amazingly (you don't realize you're going 35 MPH until people are freaking out).
