Tower question on '15 242LS

I'm figuring out placement for my VHF antenna mount and want to run the cable down part of the tower.

I know the tubes are hollow, my question to everyone is whether or not the second side support on the tower is open to the tubes or if it is a separate piece that is just welded on for support.

Below is a rudimentary picture of how I would like to run the wire.

Is this route possible?

There is no join between the tubes....you can run up the main tube, but not into the cross supports.

@Julian - I'm trying to stay clear of my bimini top and yet get as high as possible. I'm using the Shakespeare Quick Connect system and will be leaving the mount in place. I need to mount it high enough so that it isn't under the mooring cover (wearing a hole into it).

Not sure about that...I know from looking inside @swatski 's tower that his base was hollow, but it does sit on a main base on the boat...so you might be able to get a wire in there to the top part of that section of the frame. Would be really easy to lower the tower and check that though!

How is the wiring run for the tower light? On my AR style tower the wires come from the front most tube closest to the pivot pin therefore it moves the least amount of travel. If you put a cable or wire from the rear then its going to travel more when you raise/lower the tower. I'd try to keep it as close to the pivot point as possible. GL

I thought about that too, but then I've never lowered my tower before.... ever. Looking from underneath it looks like the speaker and anchor lamp wires are ran through the bottom into the front tube. And I'm happy to join that run, I just want to secure my vhf cable close to the mount.

I was just hoping someone else with the same tower had lowered theirs and knew what was available. Thanks guys!
