I am currently installing REV 10's on the forward tube of my tower. I have my 2 holes drilled in the top of the tower, as well as one drilled down on the Starboard side, just above where the tower mounts to the hull. I am struggling to get a pull string run through the tube. I have used the fishing line and shop vac trick, with no luck. I have plenty of vacuum coming through the tube, so there is definitely a path, but I cannot get the fishing line to pass all the way through.

Approximately a foot above the bottom of the tube, there is a welded splice in the tube. I sent a fish tape up from the bottom, and get stuck at that location, so I am assuming that is where my issue lies.

Anyone else have success running through the forward tube of a forward sweeping tower? I would really like to avoid drilling two more holes in the tower, to exit then re-enter around that splice joint (I am assuming there is a sleeve in there, maybe a solid plug?).

You could use your tweeter wires. I have mine disconnected due to my amp setup. The wires run through the tower and connect to the crossovers towards the rear storage area on each side. Just a thought as you will not hear them with you tower speakers.

Did you try tying a cotton ball to the fishing line?

Of course, if you have a fish tape, that would really be ideal. But I am probably the only nut who actually has one of those (and a fiberglass fishing stick). Used to do some electrical work...

I thought about the tweeter wires, but all of the wires currently in the tower are bundled together. Plus I use my tweeter (upgraded to JL Audio).

I have also tried a fish tape. As I send it up from the bottom, it won't go past that joint in the tube.

I have not tried the cotton ball, although I have tried many different combinations of tape and plastic. I can get it to take off, but it will not work its way past that joint either.

Thanks for the ideas.

We ran ours on the aft tube and dont remember running into any issues but that was over 3 years and 2 kids ago!! Could be cause most of the wires are ran in the front tube from the factory. Here is a picture of where we mounted ours at.image.jpg image.jpg

Thanks for the pic. I was able to get the pull wire through there this morning. I ended up using solid copper wire, and pushing up from the bottom. I was unable to get a fish tape up past the joint, but the smaller diameter copper (14ga) found a path fairly easily.

Sorry to resurrect such and old thread but came her because I im running into the same issue on the port side rear tube... fish tape stops going both directions at that joint. Anyone have any advice while I go search for cotton balls and my shop vac??
