Hi wondering if anyone is towing any boats with a 13-16 Ford Explorer. I have a 14 explorer base and I’m gonna start towing a 19ft Yamaha. Just wondering is anyone towing with an explorer and how’s it ride with the load .

Hopefully you have the V6 and 4WD. Beyond that it should do fine.

My 2017 AR190 scaled at 3,200lbs last spring. That was fueled and ready to go for a weekend trip. I've towed it several times with a Chevy Traverse that has similar size/shape/scale as your explorer, as well as similar drivetrain. You should be just fine. The 190's are relatively small and easy to handle boats that travel well.

Yes I have the v6, 3.5 4wd . Thanks for the insight.

You need a 1 ton dual axle diesel truck at a minimum. You need to be at 10% of the rated capacity just as a safety measure. I'm joking.

Lol some of the guys on here may seriously believe that.

OP: You should be fine. It doesn't take much to tow a 190. It is over-weight for the base model (technically) but the premium model can tow 5k. I would be willing to be the nicer model just has a trans cooler and heavier duty brakes. Keep it away from mountains and you will no issues.

Sounds good . It will be mostly highways. Plus I’ll put it in manual so I can control the gears to keep it in low gears on hills .

My parents had an ecoboost explorer sport and while not a 190, they towed flatbed trailers a few times. It towed them fine, it did most everything fine in fact. Nothing good or great, everything was fine. It guzzled gas when towing though... like single digits. They got pretty bad fuel economy in it in general though, I suspect that was driver error, as our expedition has effectively the same motor but with a 10 speed and more weight, and we are getting better fuel economy than they did.

Anyways, you'll be fine.

Thanks for the information.

Yeah, I just started towing a 195S with a 2020 Telluride with zero issues. The total capacity is 5000lbs. I live in PA and we get a bunch of up and down hills and it seems to do just fine so far. I would think as long as you have a V6 you should be good. Lucky to have good boat ramps at all the lakes we go to in Ohio so getting up the ramp is a piece of cake so far.
