I am thinking very seriously about trading my 2008 Yamaha 232 Limited in for a 2014 242 Limited S. Are there any known issues any one of you know about or have dealt with that I should be privy to before I pull the trigger? The dealer is asking 39K for it, with 213 hours on it. I have not looked at it yet, but I would like to go into the negotiation with as much information as possible.
Thank you,

Those have timing chains old style that occasionally break, but it’s very rare - you could just mention it to the dealer so that he knows that you know. Other than - great boats!
I would look at the anchor compartment up front as some of these boats will have some damage due to lose anchors. The other thing to check is the tower legs/tubes could be damaged due to water freezing on the inside, again rare but has been reported

Thank you swatski, I will keep that in mind, although this is a Florida boat, so I am not too worried about water freezing in the tower tubes, but I will examine them as well.

A test ride for sure,

I would definitely make sure the cleanout plugs worked fine and crawl underneath it to get a look at the impellers,
and if I was really serious about buying, ask them to pull a thermostat off so you can see if there is any build up on it, if there is you can bet it's in the rest of the cooling system,

the dealer probably won't give you any breaks as they will just slough it off as "it runs fine" but at least you'll be informed,

.

2010-2011 but it doesn't hurt to check.
