I have a 2012 shorelandr trailer for my 243 LTD. Lost breaks coming home and I found this fitting is leaking. Anyone have any experience with it? where can I get one?

Not exactly sure where to get one. That being said though, these trailers are pretty standard from what I understand so if you get the part off and take it to any trailer shop, they should be able to have one around. And it's hard to tell from the pic, but is is the cable or the brass looking part that's leaking?

It appears to be leaking right where there hose come into the block. It's running down the threads so its hard to tell if the fitting is bad on the hose or the block is bad.

Not sure if the fittings are considered part of the whole assembly, but my trailer info said replacement parts are for a Kia. Maybe check out the trailer manual to see if they give any hints?

I don't have a manual. I have an appointment at the place I get my horse trailer serviced to see if they can fix it

If you are going to tackle it yourself, first step would be to get some brake cleaner and spray it all over, then pump up the brakes at the coupler and see exactly where the leak is. If it is indeed where that hose goes in, unscrew the hose and try to see if it is the hose (more likely to be a problem where the hose meets the connector) or the metal block. I don't think the metal block is very likely--there is not much there to really fail...

That block and connectors are pretty standard parts. Should be able to find them in Fleet Farm / Tractor Supply type stores or auto-parts stores. I know my local Fleet Farm has everything I'd need for a complete brake-line rebuild in one aisle.

Only reason you should need to do the automotive cross-reference for parts is for calipers, pads, pistons, seals, etc. You don't look like you have that problem. (I had to rebuild a caliper last year so I can confirm that that stuff does indeed x-reff to a Kia on the '09 trailers.)

The rest of a trailer's brake system is pretty tinker-toy with off-the-shelf parts. Not a whole lot of engineering. Just gotta get hydraulic fluid to the pistons. That's it.

I'd start with a wrench and gently snug up the suspect bolt just to see what happens.

Be sure to bleed your brakes once you've got the problem fixed. It helps if you have an assistant for that one.

I took everything apart today. It's definitely leaking down the threads inside the block. I took the hose off and the fitting is very loose. Assuming that they flare on the end is bad. Where would I get a hose that long? Goes from one side of the trailer to the other.

Good luck finding those flexible brake hoses locally. I had to order mine off etrailer. No place around her had it.
