Trailer brakes?

I hope your going to do a thread about this

Usually no. If it's a standard surge brake actuator then the only time it needs 12 volts is when you back up and it opens the valve so the brakes don't lock up. You can even bypass that with a key that gets inserted.

Looks like you need a new one. Not that much money.

I just put a new one on mine. Then found the break line was bad too. Think I got it now but haven't been on the road yet.

I wish I never started this project. I don't understand how this system works. The shaft you pump goes into a empty hole. How is it supppse to pump anything.

Not sure what you mean but as I understand the surge brake mechanism, when the tongue is compressed (during braking) the shaft/shock pushes brake fluid through the brake lines and into the calipers which triggers the brakes. As the shaft/shock is decompressed the fluid moves the other direction and the brakes disengage.

Still, i hear what you are saying and have felt your pain. It would have been far easier for me to replace the entire assembly than just the safety cable.

I wish I bought my brakes locally. I'd return it all and bolt a new trailer tongue on. What a complete waste of time and money. My 2500 can stop the boat faster than my 1500 did with the trailer brakes.

IMG_4670.JPGI'm learning as I go. So I got the piston moving but I can't get anything but air out the hole where the reverse silinoid goes. Any suggestions?

IMG_4671.JPG Not sure what this is for but it works perfect without it. This cap goes over the spring inside

What a pita but it's done besides bleeding the brakes. Sorry for the rant. Thank you for the help

Now I need the trailer tongue actuator thing but I can't find one like mine. I'm getting fluid to my calipers but no brakes. I'm Tired of working on it. I'd rather spend money than deal with this bs. Any suggestions on something that will fit

Everything im looking up is for a 3" tongue. Is that id or od? My i
Od is 3.5. Id is 3

I found a replacement master cylinder on Amazon for 60 so I didn't have to order the whole thing. Gonna have a huge right up when this project is over

If the replacement part you found does not workout look at etrailer.com or pacific trailers.
