Trailer guide posts again

Trying to build some trailer guild posts myself. Question is a simple one. LS2000 flares from the back to front. Beam from outside rub rail is 92" near the mirrors (max) and narrows by approximately 4" to 88" back where the trailer guides will be installed. That is 2" per side. So how far out from the hull at the back do you install them? If they are installed at 92" apart, they will just barely touch when the boat goes on the trailer and have a 2" gap on each side when fully loaded. Is that the right way? Or do you all prefer the posts to be slightly wider than the boat max beam? Or slightly narrower, thereby requiring the poles to bend slightly to accomodate the boat? Been many years since I did the trailer boat scene. I've read a lot of posts and people don't seem real clear.

I’d set it at 92” assuming you have a little flex in your system. I wouldn’t set it any tighter.
Once you’re that far on the trailer the bunks should be lining up the boat.

Kewl. That's pretty much where I was also. Set it at max beam. Then there will be about 2" gap on each side while running on the road.

The traailer guide posts do not do anything once the boat has settled on the bunks. They act just as the name says, guide posts. They just help for people who have a difficult time lining up the boat or when weather conditions make it difficult to load the boat.

100% agree. Our previous SeaDoo X20 was wider in the middle of the boat. We set the VeVe Guides up to the hull at the stern and realized upon launch that we had to power off. That was not a good thing at all.

When we set them to rub at max beam, it was perfect. As it would grab the rub rails right about mid ship (captains chair) at that time, you could steer right or left for the perfect pivot of the boat to line up with the winch post. And as stated above, once on the bunks, they are no longer needed.
