Hi, I think the Yamaha AR190 is the perfect boat for me but I cant seem to a UK supplier.

Is this solely available in the US??

Roy

Not sure Roy. If you find one, I would recommend the AR195 supercharged version which I purchased in 2023.
The extra power, nicer interior, etc. was worth the extra cost.

Hi Roy,

Unfortunately, Yamaha Jetboats are produced in the US only. The company has no interest in the European market. Unlike other brands these boats are pain in the ass to import to Europe. Due to the missing EU conformity declaration and CE certificate, you are not allowed to operate these boats in the EU. Without these papers you will also not be able to sign an insurance for the boat. I know that some people went through the effort to certify these boats via an official compliance service center, but this takes time and a lot of money. Other brands like Cobalt, Monterey, Sea Ray, BRP, etc., come already with certifications for most markets. That’s the reason Yamaha Jetboats are very rare beasts in Europe.

I live in Germany and observed only 5 Yamaha Jetboats being sold used by private persons in West Europe in the last 10 years.

If you really want a Yamaha Jetboat, I found that there is a Dutch import company specialized to get you the model you want including certification (Jetboats.eu). But this does not come for free.

Please also keep in mind that, due to the rarity of these boats in the EU, spare parts for the boat will have to be imported from the US, adding extra costs. But spare parts for the 1800c HO and SVHO motors are available, as the WaveRunners are very common in the EU.

Thanks Leo, that's very helpful and, frankly, has made me decide not to go for the Yamaha after all.

Any recommendations for other suppliers? I'm far from anyone who can service, so easy to self maintain is very important.

Not really. In the end it comes down to what is available in your country and area, and the the intended use-case. My general recommendation would be, visit the websites of common boat brands, check if they have a representation or affiliated shop in your country/area. You can start with the ones I listed above, but there might be additional local ones in the UK. Choose the type, model, layout according to your needs and budget. Visiting a boat show is also a good opportunity to see different options, ask questions and get a good deal.
