Fixing to start getting prices on redoing my upholstery was wonder what kind of savings y'all have had on removing it urself. Verses just letting them handle it all
I don't have specific numbers, but I know you'll save a great deal doing it yourself. @Albysure knows a website to order just the fabric. I'll have to get it from him, but I believe he said about $850 for the fabric for a 21 foot or 19 foot boat.
I texted him and he said it's a company based out of Jacksonville, FL. He doesn't remember the name. I Googled it, but got several results for several companies, but not what you're looking for yet.
Here is my take. I had mine redone and talked to they guys who did a couple of Yamahas. I asked about doing the removal of cushions from the boat...not removing all the staples and material....essentially just dropping off all the cushions and picking them up. They said they did that once and the guy went to reinstall it and it had wrinkles. They said they wouldn't do that again because they have to work it, go fit it in the boat, adjust, and then finish. It's because of the curves in the boat and how it's fitted. I remember seeing the write up on the other site.
I would say just drop it off and pick it up and get it done turn key unless you are adventurous and really need to save the money. We had turn key quotes from $2,500-$6,000 and ended up at $3K. I don't know about your specific boat or the market for upholstery in your area. I know it varies greatly based on location, rural/urban, etc.
Thanks for all the info yea that was one of my consurns would. it be better to leave it in so they could make sure the curves were right and no wrinkles
@Scott griffith I did mine last year. It take less than 2 hours to get all the pieces out. the two most important pieces to get right to prevent wrinkling are the two curved backrest in bow. Check out my post titled. Time to reupholster.
Good luck
