@JetBoatPilot have you thought about making a vinyl curtain with velcro and windshield snaps that would fit between the E-Series bimini frame and the top of the windshield? We sometimes get caught out in the rain and the one thing I will miss from the old boat is the complete camper cover that we had for it....but just a screen between the bimini and the windshield would be really useful.

Any thoughts on this?

Julian

That is great idea. Obviously the e/x series has the support for that. I bet the older 242s would have it too. The newer 242s with the foward swept tower and small bimini might pose a support problem though as speed is increased.
Worth a try on all 3 IMO

Even having one that was only good for up to 10mph would be a huge improvement over nothing! If Will doesn't think there is a market, I may have some vinyl laying around that I might throw something together.....

We've tried canvas and vinyl work like this before and it did not work for us. I think it is a great idea and your local canvas shop would be better able to serve you on this one @Julian

I'd love to see pictures when you're done.

That is nice! Thank you for posting.
Any reason you decided not to go with vinyl over the factory windshield? I have almost had something like that done last year, but wasn;t sure if the factory bimini reaches out forward far enough - but this looks good.

Your friend would not be interested in making a couple more of those, would he/she? I'm assuming it zippers to the edge of the factory bimini canvas, correct?

Following. I want one too. I saved this from @john94si 's classified post for his 242. This is what I want.

Swatski, we wanted to use the same snaps as our cockpit cover uses. That’s why we went clear down over the windshield. He said the clear vinyl wouldn’t last rubbing against the windshield. There are a couple things I would have changed, like the front Bimini support poles I would straighten out to give a little more head room for standing up. And maybe put a zipper in the middle to access the bow without having to crawl under. We still have that option, and if I see we leave it on a lot I might put the snaps in the upper windshield frame so I can sit down and drive, plus it would let in more light.

With my old one, the front section was 3 different pieces. You could have any part down or not. Was really functional! This is how I would do it again

Also, each of those front sections had a strip of fabric that you could wrap around the rolled up section and snap it up out of the way so if you wanted it up, but not off, you could do that easily.
