I was thinking of getting a wakeboard for my daughter just so she can try it out. Would it be an issue using the low tow hook? What is the benefit of the high hook with a wake tower?

It's easier to get up with the rope attached to the tower, and you'll get more "pop" when crossing the wake since the rope is anchored higher up. You should be able to pull a wake boarder no problem though, I had no issues pulling boarders with my last boat with no tower. Word of caution though, if she gets into it, you'll likely end up getting a boat with a tower down the road;)

I bet, but let's see if she gets into it first lol.

I was debating between the AR and SX, I liked the wake tower, but I also like the two captains chairs in the SX. Oh well, maybe she won't get into it, problem solved lol

I wakeboard behind my SX190 all the time, I can clear the wake. The difference is just the height you get off the wave.

and you attach the rope to the rear tow hook right? It stays even if they jump?

I have the boat, tower, the board and bindings...
Too bad my kids don't even want to try.

Yep, really for a beginner a tower is not needed (don't take this the wrong way my next boat will have a tower).

@Rob, lol, damn kids!

I was just searching online for wakeboards, damn they get pricy. I looked on craigslist and didn't see anything good in my area.

@SCP1 - what did you do for wakeboards?

I have an old stingray, to be honest I'm not even sure who made it. It's from like 2001! I now have a ronix board as well, as a starter I would say the bindings are more important than the board.

Overton's watch the sales!

Amazon, got a 2014 board and bindings for about $180

Look at last year's beginner models or the clearance rack on Evo, thehouse, or boardco for beginner stuff. Overtons is also good if you catch a 10-20% off sale.

Also, start by pulling them up slow, you shouldn't need a lot of throttle to get a kid up. The slower the better.
