Has anyone had their tower powder coated, and if so, how did it turn out? I would love to powder coat my aluminum tower BLACK! The towers on the newer boats look great! I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and if you have pics of the before and after! What was the cost?

I had mine stripped off and re coated grey. I was very impressed with it, especially for the price it was done for.

how much was all that? I may need to do it.

or i'll sand it down and spray paint (never done it before)

The guy out here charged me $375 to strip and re coat. That's an amazing price for the job. He is retired and does it as a hobby is why he charges so low. I had to take the tower off and take it to him tho.

I would not recommend spray painting it. It will peel and chip over time. Maybe try to bring it down to him during the winter if you ever by this area? I think it will be worth it rather than spray painting it.

375 is dirt cheap.

this may be a winter project... i "plan" on sanding, priming and painting using automotive supply. we shall see tho if i get lazy i will just hand it off to someone :)

Yup, with time it can be done. If you have the equipment and materials to do it, I would do it yourself then. But yes I did get lucky with the pricing.

So I am assuming that after powder coating, when it is "baked on", the heat did not damage the electrical wiring or plug wher the tower comes apart? or did they remove all LED's and wiring inside the tubing and do it?

You're tower looks great FloJet!

Thank you Billy. I removed all the speaker wiring and anchor/navigation light wiring before I took it up to him. Before that, I had to have the dealership remove the tower as it took a special tool to take off the boat I believe. 2016 AR 240 did not come with led's in the tower so it made it a little bit easier. When it was all completed, the dealership put the tower back on and ran my nav lights for me.
