are there any videos on installing two wake tower speakers on a new 2018 ar240, also we are going to add an amp!

Welcome to the site and congrats on the purchase!!

I see you dont waste time with the mods...I like it!

If you search the electronics/audio section you will see a few post with pics with guys who have ARs as well, I'm not sure if they contain videos but you can search YouTube for that.

I understand the hardest part is fishing the speaker wires up....I have my towers mounted on the forward bar with swivel mounts. Once you select a location, measure 3x and drill holes, fish wire up from the starboard side, and connect. The other post will have details and pics to help you.

What kind of towers and amp are you adding?

I just installed a second pair. My dealer had installed the first set 2 years ago.

  1. You'll want to have a second person helping.
  2. Mock up the speakers and clamps on the tower. Making sure their nice and evenly spaced.
    • Mark the sides of the clamps with pencil.
    • I recommend a position where you're not going to hit your head on them all the time. I hit my head more than a few times on them where the dealer had the first pair mounted. But they were in a great location for adding the second pair on the outside.
    • If you can remove the speakers from the clamps like I could with my JL's, remove them and using just the clamps in the locations you marked, mark your drill location up thru the clamp.
    • Start by drilling a smaller hole to start, then go to the size recommended in the instructions. Mine said 1/2"
    • I went with the JL MX770 with the 2.375" swivel clamps.

  3. You'll want a decent wire snake.
  4. With the 2 existing speaker wires and the tower nav light it was a tight-ish fit bringing the 2 new wires down the starboard side. They fit, but I ended up having to snake up from the base of the tower (with the tower lowered). I had to use a couple of small allen wrenches to hook the ends to pull it out thru the holes I drilled. It takes a little finesse, but it's doable. Definitely where a second person comes in handy.
  5. Use plenty of tape to wrap the wires with and pull them thru the tower. Leave it taped and send your snake down thru the tower mount into the under seat storage and up to the console.
  6. It can be handy to remove the tray by the throttles to access the space between the seat and console.
Amps are another story...

Good luck on your quest!

I wish there was more info on this as well. Just picked an AR240 and looking to add 4ch amp to start then tower speakers.

There is actually a few write-ups on this....once you determine pipe diameter and where you want to mount them its just a matter of drilling (measure a few times and mock them up to be sure) and then fishing the wire up, some guys can get it to go on one side, I think my installer had to run mine on each side due to wire thickness as I went with RGB speaker wire so I can add LED lights down the road to my M880s.

Towers are a great upgrade but you might still need another set of speakers in the main cabin, vs the 2 that come stock.

A solid balance would be six 6.5s, some towers, a sub and a amp to push them all.

Really all dependent on your budget an patience. I ended up doing my system in phases so I can get it how I want but still gets better as I add equipment.

A few searches will turn up a ton of solid info.
